Silver QFF benefits flying emirates

Hi

I'm sure the following basic questions most of you know the answer to, so i apologies in advance.

In a few weeks i will be flying on a QF coded flights but it will be EK metal from SYD to LHR. I have Silver status on QF and will be travelling in Y.

1. Are you able to let me know what the luggage allowance is for checked baggage? Is it 42kg. Need to know as I am taking a quite a few things for my brother who lives there.

2. When i check in for my flight in SYD can i check in at QF or should i be checking in at EK desks? The reason I ask is that QF allows you priority check in at Qantas Club or PE. But i don't think EK has these counters. What should silver QF members do when they check in at EK?

Your assistance would be very much appreciated.

1. Yes, it's 42 kg as I did the same trip when visiting my sister in London except my flight originated from SIN and all my baggage allowance was used for her stuff including an electronic keyboard and stand.

2. I believe you'll have to check in at the EK desk.

When I got to the airport, I saw that there was no queue at the economy class check-in counters (it's SIN after all!) so I went straight to one of them as I was keen to find out if my baggage was overweight in case I needed time to offload some there and then.

Here is some info I've found and extracted from the QF-EK website:
Qantas and Emirates Partnership | Qantas
"When flying on Qantas internationally as a Silver Frequent Flyer you will be able to check in at the Qantas Club, Premium Economy counters or when flying on Emirates you will be able to check in at the Silver counters, wherever they're available."

I'd think there'll be Silver counters at SYD?

I'm QF silver and flying on EK metal next year and wondered the same things, after searching I'm 90% sure QF silver members can check-in at the EK business counters (EK silver members can do this too). The Qantas site doesn't say it specifically, but I found a post here by Red Roo confirming it.

Yes you can, we did at both Brisbane and Dubai checkins, you will see it says on Emirates signs 'silver and Gold' at the check in. Personally I will be trying to fly on Qantas metal in the future, that was my first time with Emirates and I wasn't impressed at all!
