Silver Kris lounge access

The boss travels J and you go in Y on the same flight? That's rude...

If my boss flies PE (because that's our long haul policy) and Im in J (thanks to AFF & points) - is that also rude?

Whilst the lounge in SIN is below par compared to QF, are people travelling in Y going to redirect their business away from SQ/VA to QF just because of the lounge? Many look at the overall picture, the inflight product, scheduling choice, available connections, quality of connecting airline (MI/SQ vs 3K), price, etc. Even the lounges at other end (if you are non-WP, the MEL QF J lounge, for example, is not really that much better than the SQ J lounge at MEL).

I'm a Y traveller only with WP and although it would definitely be nicer to have a better lounge, Krisflyer Gold is not a bad place. Changi as an airport is good enough to get away with a slightly less standard lounge, though. It definitely wouldn't fly in a place like SYD, LHR, LAX etc. Not having showers is just plain silly though.

Though I have to say now that the pool is closed for renovations I'll probably be crankier about it when I fly through later this month!

SilverKris Gold has a pool? Wow - what a concept, has it been thought of yet? Anyone who has been to the Ivy in Sydney can see the potential here. I wonder which will be the first lounge to have an Ivy-style pool-bar replete with cabanas and your fellow sluggo & bikini-clad SG/WP/WP1/VIPs cavorting around it

Finally made it to the T2 SilverKris lounge last month before an award J MI flight. Definitely the poor cousin to the T3 lounge, although does at least have showers.

A few trainees in the lounge and had a laugh when the trainer asked them if they liked beer out of a glass or can.. Result was silence from the three female trainees... Before it was explained to them that most western men liked it from a glass, and thus it was important to keep the chilled glasses below the Tiger tap well stocked.

SilverKris Gold has a pool?
Sadly it is outside the lounge, and costs ~SGD14 to get into (or 'free' if using the free 20 Changi Dollars you get for flying SQ). Definitely agree, would be awesome.

Yes figured that, but think of the concept! Forget the so-called 'spa' at Q Flounge, I want a real spa, with bubbles

Now we're talking something that would be really cool to have in a lounge, a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. IIRC. Finnair has something like that at HEL, but at a cost to non AY top-tiers?

My boss (VA Plat travelling on an SQ Business ticket) was able to guest me (VA Gold, travelling Y on an SQ ticket) into the Silver Kris @ Changi yesterday.

Regards
Dom

Hi there,
just to add another data point. Two of us were travelling on SQ tickets SIN-SYD on the same flight in July. One was flying J (VA gold), one was flying Y (VA plat). the J pax was unable guest the Y pax into the SilverKris lounge, and the Y flyer was directed to the Krisflyer Gold lounge. So I guess it depends on how generous the lounge agents are.

On another point, it does appear that AirNZ has managed to secure access for its Elite Airpoints members to the SilverKris lounge when flying Y on flights between Singapore and Auckland, according to their website (links below). Perhaps Virgin could try to secure the same for its Platinum Velocity members?

Singapore Airlines - Star Alliance - Airpoints - Air New Zealand - Australia Site
". . . passengers departing in Business Class, Elite members and Elite Partners may also use the SilverKris lounge in Singapore when travelling on, or when connecting to or from, an Air New Zealand or Singapore Airlines flight between New Zealand and Singapore. Please note, no guests are permitted into the SilverKris lounge."

Now that is promising! I wonder how new it is?

We got in to Silver - with guests, with our biz class tix. It was very busy at 11pm, and the choice of white wine was one, so no choice. Also the showers (in Terminal 3 lounge) don't have a toilet - you hop over the corridor for that. I seem to recall they did once, or maybe that is the status over in the T1 Silver lounge?

Anything is better than the sit upright, one size fits all seating in the Gold lounge.

I cant remember, if flying into Changi on SQ J, can I access the SilverKris lounge at T3 on arrival?
As far as I am aware business class does not entitle you to arrivals lounge access unless you have a connecting flight.

Correct. Only lounge access available for those only travelling as far as SIN or connecting to non partner airline, is paid lounge access. For arrivals, in public area at T3, JetQuay have opened a pay lounge that is~ $17 for a shower or $35-41 for 2 hours lounge access.
