Well SIA has set the new bar for inflight full service economy (flights less than 4 hours).

Personally I like it! Perhaps VA/Bain can reassess down the track.

So much simpler, enviro friendly (in a massive way) & good choices. I suppose we didn't really need the bread roll.

The cost savings are much higher than thought in the article as the volume of materials collected are likely to be 1/10 to 1/20th vs the plastic containers & lids. When taking them away after the meal service there are now just two stacks with a carts full load taking up not much more space than 2 tissues boxes.

I like how this is much more environmentally friendly. I imagine there is a lot of waste from airplane food and amenities.

While I understand that bamboo breaks down, I hate how it feels in mouth, plus you know what's probably even better, not using single-use products, but I guess the old cutlery would be far heavier too. I did read they'd break it down to burn for energy, not dumping it... however I'd still rather a metal cutlery set

I for one liked the side dishes which are now gone and so is the bread roll

Though how often I'd do short haul economy in SQ is another question... Very rare

No, but the menu posted in the article posted indicates prices for drinks with no 'complimentary' option.

Admittedly, not much, but they are there.



Also, dessert is being charged.

I think these prices are because it was at a expo and not the actual menu onboard. From the article it appears you got a meal included with your entry and subsequent meals were $6.
