Well after August I will be WP. So any trans Tasman trips will see me checking it out. Not a big deal though I am told
It's very much like the AKL lounge, which you'll be seeing a lot of as well.

Alan but there's just one thing that I can't shake...........now that I fly F, I really can't stomach J.
It was early 2009 when they announced they were stopping all F to Australia. I had an F award booked for September 2009 and was changed to J early in 2009 when they dropped F services. not sure of the date the F services ceased, but it was somewhere around April. How long ago was it that CX dropped F from OZ - 5 years?
Would have been early 2009 and most likely from SYD or MEL.I remember travelling on a 343 with F back in 09, but I am not sure if that was the norm or an exception.
From BNE, F was always an issue for CX. I was routing via MEL to get a F for my award in 2009 (then they canned F after I had booked). BNE has been J/Y for CX for a long time.I remember flying J (coffin style) 08....wanted to book F however, not available. Maybe they were phasing them out over a period of time.
You might have to slum it in Jafter F becomes only available on limited routes he he he

I would rather see Qantas focus on building a new J product that feels more F-like, e.g. Singapore Airlines style. SQ's A380s and 77Ws have an exceptionally good J product with the privacy of 1-2-1 layout and wide beds that allow you to really stretch out and sleep, which makes F seem a bit redundant to me... (unless you or your employer have an extremely generous travel budget)
SQ shows that a good J product can achieve a lot of the things that make F better than J, e.g. not having to sleep next to a snoring stranger, not having someone climb over you in the middle of the night, not having a wide bed to stretch out in, not having privacy...
Emirates tried to do this on the A380 too but sadly they got it completely wrong. I haven't tried CX's 77W new product but it seems to be following in SQ's style and holds much promise.
It's small, and paltry in comparison to its bigger sibling in SYD and MEL (food more like Dom J lounge). BUT it has champagne. And the QP/Intl J lounge has bubbles.
That's a nice difference for me, pre-flight.![]()
