Hmmm.... Should I spend $1500 to go to LA for a concert ? 3 days travel , three days there...

If it was for Led Zeppelin, or somehow the Beatles magically re-grouped for one concert, then yes, absolutely! :D

Furthest I've ever traveled was SYD-MEL for Rolling Stones (after seeing them in Sydney already :)), but I was willing to travel to London for the Led Zep concert @ 02 Arena, if I'd won the chance to buy tickets.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I was going to do this for Coachella...Until I realised the dates coincided with previously booked work travel. I'd do it if I could though

Went to Vegas for a weekend ex Sydney, sometimes you just have to do it!

Go for it.
I'm going to Japan twice this year for nothing more than having a piss up and a good time. Two days each visit, really, that's all my liver can take:cool:

Do it.
It's only $1500 and if its a once in a lifetime thing, then be spontaneous and treat yourself... :p

I once interrupted a TYO trip to fly back to NYC for an opening night at the Met, then flew back to Japan the next morning.

I say GO FOR IT. To paraphrase an old saying, it's the things we DON'T do that we regret on our death-beds.

I'm going to eurovision in Oslo in May.... So hell yeah...why not! (that said, I am using my krisflyer points and not spending 1500 dollars)...although given Norway is expensive I will probably spend that in just getting around, eating and drinking anyway.

Purely out of interest - who is playing? I personally would fly for particular people - though I am not sure I am a big enough fan of anyone to fly to the US in whY ;)

Agree with NYCguy's sentiments...you may regret not doing it. And on a similar note, an oft-quoted saying is "life is not a dress rehearsal"!

I'm also curious as to who is playing...not that it affects my opinion on whether you should go or not. :)

Why not?

However I too would actually be more worried about the flying whY bit than actually spending the money....

If that expenditure is at all discretionary... I mean if you are not taking the funds from something important.. then DO IT!

I took advantage of the airfares on NZ October last.. spent 6 days in the US catching up with friends and doing some "UP running"....

Upgrade cleared going over but not coming back... Such is Life.

No regrets about the trip at all!

Your all bad influences !

I'm a big fan of Peter Gabriel and he is playing his soon to be newly released album at the Hollywood music bowl in May.

Just make sure he's not planning a tour here any time soon...a mate of mine went to see Leonard Cohen in Europe, soon before he announced his Australian tour.

Of course, he turned it into a ~6 week Europe trip, so it wasn't all bad. :)

Now that would be something.. I can understand wanting to fly somewhere to see that :)

Last time he was in Aus was 1994.. And I did see him then . I was only 14!

How much are tickets?
