I currently only have one Amex so it didn't take long to complete the 3 shops last night on my way home from work. All 3 triggered the email within a minute and as mentioned upthread when talking to the people serving me none had any concept of the shop small promotion. One item I wanted was $19.99, it took a bit to talk them into charging me $20 :shock:
 
Annoyingly our vet didn't show on the map so hot dog vaccinated Thursday. Yesterday they were on the map.

Had my first rejection today, terminal apparently "doesn't work" with AMEX - forced me to pay online. Will have to write to AMEX to get my credits I guess.
 
So far 16 credits 'promised' (received emails). 2 more to go which breakfast tomorrow will sort out to max out at 18 from 6 cards. Best merchant effort was a restaurant in Crows Nest which agreed to split a $102 bill across 5 cards. They had no idea what we were trying to do.

That's odd. Did you use any? You should receive confirmation email after each purchase, sometimes it happens immediately but can also take up to 1 hour.
 
I've done a "pharmac_ run" today, using 3 cards in 3 different locations all close to each other. Got to meet other AFFers who did the same which was funny :D

Didn't realise there is so much useful stuff you can buy in pharmacies theses day, should have registered my other two AMEX cards as well :p
 
Today I've been optometrist, cafe, bar and fruit/veg store - zip from any of them, as they don't take Amex.

Might have to try the chemist route tomorrow! But the map isn't looking good around here.
 
My wife has not received emails for two PIN transactions but instant emails for paywave, even at the same merchant.

I did one paywave and one PIN and got instant emails for both. It's now part of the fun to see if and when an email will come :)

She had one merchant refuse to split payments past 3 cards. Spoiled sport.
 
My first ever shop small with amex, and have done all 3 spends on my 8 cards :)
16 via my work and a mates work, and 8 x $20 gift vouchers from the cafe next door to my work . They had no idea there was a amex promo going on...
Only had 1 customer across Friday and Saturday that came into my work actually knowing the shop small promo was going. A bit of a shame really.
Not sure why stores refuse to split payments, as far as I can tell, it doesn't cost me anything extra to do that (except maybe extra time)

Some merchants have said that they get charged a set fee for each credit card transaction (in addition to the % charge on the spend amount), something in the region of 30-70c (or more), which is why a lot of merchants now have a "min spend" before they will accept ANY CCs.
 
Went to one tonight that not only didn't take Amex... They didn't take cards at all!
 
11 cards done and dusted, now looking forward to November's main event (if there is one).
 
I have emails now confirming my purchases conform, but I had no initial emails and the rebates still do not show up. The map of places taking part kept changing, and did not match the actual list of businesses. It was not as well organised as previous offers. However, I do appreciate 'money for jam'.
 
Managed 8/9 transactions. ..last place I visited this afternoon was closed and as it was raining, heavily, decided to drive home ;)
