I'm a fan of Frankie4 shoes - local company and designed by a physio and podiatrist.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Before someone else polishes off the last of the shoe jokes let me put my toe in and cobble together something. Then again, after casting my eye over it, I might have to boot all this discussion to another thread, if I can lace it all together. Still, let others pump it some more, perhaps.

You're a shoe in! :)

At least we wont have to do a runner.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Women seem to love shoes and handbags while many men are happy to have a beer in their hand with spares nearby.
i hate shopping for shoes and handbags. I buy one bag every 5 years or so and a pair of shoes possibly every 3 years. Dr FM on the other hand needs a whole room for her shoes. Often wonder where it came from....

Re: The totally off-topic thread

Oh dear.

Luckily my wife only wants to spend our money on other useless things such as jewellery.
She sounds like my sort of person - a pair of shoes, a pair of sandals and one bag is plenty, but you really need plenty of good jewellery to match your outfit.

To each their own.

There's no real difference between a $500 bracelet/necklace and a $5,000 bracelet/necklace other than what's in your mind.

My wife's engagement ring cost ~$1,200 and mine ~$400 as that was all I could afford at the time. I now use the engagement ring as a wedding ring as they are similar design. I wouldn't feel any better spending $5,000 on a "better" ring for myself. It's on my finger that's all that matters. Not the cost.

I will buy my wife a decent wedding ring but still not too expensive.

My engagement ring was about $110 from memory - we were poor students! A friend's daughter has just become engaged with a ring that was about $12,000. I did end up with a new engagement ring as I lost the original one when I put it away safely on the way to hospital for the birth of our first child. Think I have said that before

I love shoes but because I have a short, fat food I can rarely find anything comfortable.

Definitely a taste thing and there is also no doubt that a well designed piece of costume jewellery can be beautiful. Like you we weren't prepared to spend money on an engagement ring - we had just bought a house in Sydney and interest rates were 17.5%! I said I would wait until we afford something I liked.

i think if you put a $500 diamond next to a $5,000 one you will notice the difference though. I also like the way real stones/pearls last (if looked after). I have some rings that belonged to grandparents and the rings are now 70 years old and just as beautiful. My daughters have already divvied up my jewellery and I like the idea that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will one day wear my things and maybe know where they came from!

Good lord, how old are you? :p. How many G&T tonight?
Mine was around $300.

I inherited my Great Grandmother's ring. Her future husband was a jeweller. ;). Its over 130 years old but I have had it remodelled. Same Gold and diamonds.

Not that much older than you! (Cheeky) And no G&Ts tonight at all; sadly have run out of tonic. Did have a nice Marsanne with the roast chook though.

The first ring came from some dodgy wholesaler in Melbourne and did have a valuation certificate for more (but still cheap). The replacement one was a few thousand I think (as it was a surprise gift), with a sapphire and a couple of diamonds. Not sure I would like a very expensive ring on my finger - would be frightened I'd lose it.

And sorry, this is OT as the thread is supposed to be about shoes

Maybe the thread title should be "Shoes and other accessories". Think of the fun we could have then.
