Can anyone give me a vague idea of the cost for shipping a cat from the US to Aust? I've worked out the export & AQIS charges, but need an idea of how much the shipping might be.

I also read that AA won't ship animals on flights more than 12 hrs duration, so advice on that aspect would be most welcome, too

Thanks

Just one point of note - AA don't fly to Oz so that question wont be an issue so you will be looking at other carriers.

QF treats pets travelling on international flights as 'excess baggage', so you'll need to weigh your cat and their container to get an idea of how much you'll need to pay if you were travelling on QF and they'll be riding in the cargo hold.
Fly - Baggage - Travelling with Pets
UA on the other hand will allow you to take your cat as carry on into the cabin with you and will charge you a flat $200.
United Airlines - Traveling with Pets, Airline Guidelines & Breed Restrictions
VA doesn't have much info at all on their site.

Personally, if I was a cat I think I'd probably be making UA my preferred carrier. :p
