I'll be in Venice for the 1st time in July. As I'm travelling on my own I thought a good way to 1st see Venice would be on a Share Water Taxi from Airport to Hotel for 27 Euro/pp. But on their website you can't book for one, one person must book two tickets. (The Hotel says to get the 8 Euro bus.) From reviews there is normally anything from 4 to 10 passengers on each Water Taxi.
Has anyone walked the queue/line & asked to join others in the Shared Water Taxi?

And don’t forget that you can buy daily/periodic tickets while in Venice for the water bus (vaporetto) to travel along the Grand Canal, etc, for sight-seeing; hop-on, hop-off.

I know this isn’t very helpful ... but it’s a magical, wonderful place with an amazing vibe due to it’s history. Whatever you choose to do, you’ll enjoy it!

Thanks everyone. I’ll get the Alilaguna. It goes near the Train Station & I’ll walk to the hotel at Santa Croce. And definitely use the vaporetto for tours.

Just do your research. Venice is fabulous. We too take a shared taxi but usually booked prior. First trip we shared with a bunch of Aussies! Next trip we were on our own so like a private taxi and yes, we acted just like James Bond.

The Alilaguna is very easy to use. It was very crowded when we were there, but it was still peak season. Loved Venice, and plan on going back in 2021.

As others have said the best value are the passes and you can get on and off as much as you want but I think the airport one is not included. Enjoy - it's a wonderful city

Yes I was a bit confused at 1st, then I realised that the Alilaguna is only from the Airport to Venice & the vaporetto is only for getting around Venice & has 48 & 72 hour tickets
I’m looking forward to it. Thanks everyone.

Randomly searching for something else I found our company for the airport transfer- Venicelink. We prepurchased then Qatar cancelled our flight. Emailed them and they changed it to the next day. They are very good.
The Vaporetto gets you to the outlying Islands of Murano and Burano which are must sees.

Unless you're there for a special occasion, The Alilaguna is efficient and a good way to head from Airport to your hotel. You can buy returns cheaper than one way, and online is also cheaper again.

Agree with others re the Vappareto tickets, it really is a great way to travel around. The 2-day (or 3 day) tickets are good value compared to single fares, although the one day ticket may be cheaper or more expensive depending on your travel plans.
