I have a spare night in Shanghai (first visit), and just looking for some "must do's" and tips from fellow members.

1. Get your butt down to the rather exciting french concession area.
2. Go mental

PS - Don't drink anything with ice in it.

Enjoy!

Oh and take the maglev train from/to the airport, it is quite a ride. Much better than a cab on the main road into town.

Or you could..... Or not as the case may be...

- Buy lots of $2 DVD's hard to explain the best shop but just only buy DVD9 and check them so you can take tm back if the dont work
- Get asked 50 times by guys with bikes and boxes on the back full of fake rolex's if you want to buy one (not for me , but the real thing or not at all, and no i don't own the real thing)
- Be propositioned for 'massagie' (s*x) 10 times in 5 minutes !

- The buffet at the intercontinental pudong is sensational ! (IMHO)

Just walking the streets, particularly at night, is quite an experience, particularly if this is your first visit. Might be a bit different now as it is still quite cool in Shanghai, but in the warner months the "sea" of people in the downtown area (Nanjing Lu, The Bund, etc.) is quite amazing.

Ask in the concierge about one of the Acrobatic Shows. There are several of these available and shouldn't be difficult to find one.Cabs are cheap. Also suggestions earlier in the thread about walking Nanjing Rd is an experience and as described. I felt safe at all times there.
I would also Check out if the Jin Mao Tower is open at night.I was there by day and is spectacular.

as kelpie said do the maglev for sure heaps good!! catch the subway from their into town its not bad and better than the mad taxi drivers who try to rip u off...
