Have you guys got any creative ideas on how to get from SFO-MSY-PDX?

UA seem to be the only airline that flies direct from SFO-MSY. But there's only one flight a day, and it arrives after 5pm.

There doesn't seem to be anyone that flies direct between MSY-PDX.

I've only got 2 travelling days available to make the trip.

Any ideas?

SFO-MSY...AA seems to be able to get you there by 1415....

WN by 1335... Both of those are very early departures from SFO...

Couldnt find ANY direct flights at all....

DL or AA via LAX for leg 1, then AA via DFW to PDX.

Need more info on
- travel class
- time required in MSY
- could/would you do SFO-PDX first?
- rough timeframes, days of week.

You're essentially doing two trans-con "flights" so with "only" two days there wont be much ground time depending on your reason for that routing.

To answer your questions:

Economy
Was hoping to get a full day in MSY
It would have to be MSY first then PDX
Could be travelling on Thursday over night/Friday/Saturday early morning. Obviously would prefer not to do red eyes. But doesn't seem to be much choice!

I was looking at Alaskan, but no direct flights either. UA are the airline with a direct flight, and its going to cost $1400 in economy!

Thu 5/5 as an example:

UA connecting (overnight) in DFW to AA pricing at $354 for leg 1
dep SFO @ 1857 arr DFW @ 0037+1 local (1037 on SFO time so ok body clock wise) then dep DFW @ 0720 arr MSY @ 0848. Would need to either terminal sleep or airport hotel

Avoiding the overnight in DFW then there's a Friday 0500 ex-SFO on UA that arr MSY at 1330 or a 0930 dep that arr 1800. Both via DEN. Both pricing at $372.

For a Saturday departure the earliest it looks like you could get to PDX is circa 1230 (taking UA at 0500 via IAH and LAS). $490 odd.
