"The seat belt sign had come on but some passengers were still moving back to their seats."
If you were seated and did not have your seat belt on then it's kind of your own fault.
It's also one of the risks of flying. If you dont like the risk then dont fly. Nobody deserves $400k for turbulance. It's not as if QF deliberately flew into it.
Yeah but in this day an age, no one takes responsibility their own actions. I'm of the opinion passengers who refuse to wear their seat belts when seated, should be fined. Just like you (the driver) are if you're in a car.
Can neither understand or believe the number of idiots that ignore the seat belt sign have seen so many get up just after the announcement and the seat belt sign was illuminated.
Its almost as bad as the sound of seat belts unbuckling as we still are taxiing in from landing.
Some people are obviously stuid and or just oblivious to the dangers.
Trouble is it is these people that end up falling on innocent passengers. Why oh Why can people no longer abide by rules !!!!!!
Maybe if those signs were used more judicially more people would obey them? ( there one was a boy who cried wolf--------)

Wow, just wow.Maybe if those signs were used more judicially more people would obey them? ( there one was a boy who cried wolf--------)
QF32 is a flight number that maybe Qantas should retire.
I have found that they tend to try not to use the seat belt sign unless necessary as it can frighten nervous flyers.
But as I say before still cant believe the amount of people that unbuckle as we taxi in
Huh? Pilots don't just switch them on to exercise control over pax for no reasons - Except in certain situations (eg someone being restrained onboard etc). They will have been issued a warning from other aircraft about turbulence in the area, or from weather charts, or their equipment.
And as usual the Murdoch press fails in its accuracy. Check the picture. Seven injured in Qantas QF32 flight turbulence | News.com.au
Nine News and No News report factually on a minor incident (OK - the graphic was of A Qantas plane not THE Qantas plane), and then we get 2 pages of rants against mythical passengers who deliberately flouted the seat-belt sign and will supposedly now sue Qantas.
