Somewhere we've often thought of travelling to but now possibly thinking of going for nine or 10 days over this Christmas and new year. Thoughts?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Who are you flying with, if with OZ, put in your SQ KF #, so you can transfer the points to VFF later on, with a "loss" of 35%.
Of course, no VFF SC, but still, at the least you will earn VFF at 65% of the "downgraded" miles, as you earn a smallish amount as a % of the miles flow, in Y.
Will have to wear airy clothing, leaving Aust, but then change into warmer clothing as you go up, either via SIN, or if you are flying direct, once you get past a certain point, on the plane.
If flying KAL, maybe join ST.
And if with QF, add your QFF.
Have never been to Korea, but have felt the real cold, that being CHC in Jul, am sure Seoul will be colder, in the deep -10/-15 in Dec.

871 Won to the Aud$1, will be hard to get used to the big money they use, 89,000 etc, for our $100.

Oooo...
In Y or JQi version of J.
Or premY if we were to a comparison.
And yes, I have a JQi as a dom pax, a few years ago now, both in Y and in J, SYD - MEL only tho.
On other airlines, even of a dom flight, we get a PDD, but on that JQ flight, no PDD.
Hopefully you are in JQi J, at the least!

+1 that it is very, very cold that time of year.

It can take a while to get around Seoul depending on where you stay, so choose wisely or you'll end up spending lots of time on the train.

If you're interested in it, the DMZ visit is worth a go - especially if you can get to the blue house/joint security area (was still closed when I went...). Don't bother with doing private tours (unless you're the type who has a lot of questions) - you all end up on the same bus together in the DMZ anyway.

Nah, just Y. We're not precious. extra leg room (exit row) booked so no-one reclining into us. Daytime over, overnight back. We flew JQ Y to Bali last year and it was fine. It's a few hours in a bus flying at high altitude. QF Y all the way to JNB in a few months. It'll be not much different.

Bloody cold but it's a great city with lots to see - the palace, the historic village, markets, fish market, shopping arcades attached to metro stations (some of these are interesting and on a theme, eg vinyl record shops). And the food!

If you’re lucky it’ll be a white Christmas too! 🙂 Winter in Seoul definitely requires extra layers, gloves and beanies in December.

It's been a long time since we've travelled anywhere cold. Antarctica in 2017. We have lots of super warm clothing from then, plus of course our ugly santa jumpers that we bought for Christmas just past.

And flights booked. Out 24/12, back 04/01. Now to plan

Good to see you take the plunge! 😆
Another thing that we struggled a lot were the slippery roads, esepcially after a heavy snowfall and when the ice started to melt. Do be careful.

We will be back again this year but in October and with 2 young ones tagging along, will be a whole different experience altogether this time I expect
