Seems AMEX AUS now allows downgrade from Personal Platinum Charge to Personal Green Charge/Gold Charge

Chat said no downgrade Options at the moment and I could call .
If I call and downgrade to green is there some risk of losing points before enrolling in MR as seems to be suggested above ?

i just did this, confirmed over phone we wouldn't lose and he said no. Membership rewards of new spend posted yesterday maybe a few days after activating the green card.

I chatted yesterday and they said 48hrs for the platinum card rewards to transfer across. Will update if any issues.

If we want to downgrade and keep our rewards points, what is the best way? Downgrading to the Green card will still charge annual fee of $80 plus $80 for membership points keeping, that is $160 a year for nothing? Any way to only pay $80 annual fee and keep the rewards points?

Unlikely . Consider applying for another cheaper MR card.

Just attempted to get a retention offer for my Platinum. Straight refusal, offered Gold card or Green card instead.

1. $210 Gold Card + $65 for every additional card holder
2. $160 Green Card + $45 for every additional card holder

New card numbers. no additional credit checks. However one concering point he made that I can't verify is that upgrading back to a platinum may not be possible unless invited to do so. If no upgrade offer exists at the time you have to simply apply for it again on the standard amex webpage.
