Hi folks,

Thought I would start a thread listing good seats that don't seem to be recognised as such on seatguru etc. I don't really want to send changes to seatguru in case it means I'll never be able to get my preferred seats again!

My best option for my fairly frequent BNE-SIN trips is 23A/K on international (at least) A333s - the window bulkhead seats. The window side armrest folds up, giving enough extra side room to scrunch sideways a bit, and also change position during flight - makes a big difference after 7 hours or so! The bulkhead wall also makes a decent leg rest.

45A/K is the same, but I've never been able to get them since they introduced paid exit row seating, even though they don't actually show up as the red exit row seats. Suspect they get snaffled by higher status folks before I can get them as a lowly silver.

Otherwise, maybe it's not much of a secret, but I find you run a pretty decent chance of an empty middle seat in the middle section of 3 on dom 767s... Unless it's a full flight, of course.

Anyone know of any other under the radar good seat options?

Danny

You do realise these seats would not longer be a 'secret' even if they are not on seatguru?

Try 80A, 80K or 71D on the QF A380-800. Not a bulkhead but do not have a seat in front so no need to worry about recliners.

I don't mind sharing with the limited number of AFFers ;).

I'm kind of assuming this thread won't end up on the first page of google for 'good qantas seats' or something...

Seat 00A

Comes with extra features such as flight controls and satellite communications

It might now you’ve included that search keyword :p

If I can't get emergency row seats, then I try to get ones at the very back so you can recline the whole flight without crushing the knees of a tall person behind you (ie, myself).

Alternatively you could try the seats on a 747 just behind the PE cabin, I think last time I looked there they had some more leg room and weren't classed as emergency exit (not sure though).

There's also the seat in the middle on the A380 which has no seat in front of it, I'm sure it's been mentioned already.

Otherwise I like sitting at the back of the 747 where there's only 2 seats on the sides, you can put more stuff down/take your shoes off and still have plenty of room.

Never choose a middle seat.

At least I'd have the opportunity to say I've been hoisted by my own petard (I love that saying for it's sheer nontransparency and slightly... err... adult... sound), which would almost make it worthwhile!

B-747 2Class (BNE-LAX) (SYD-SFO) and probably more

i will swear on my life that rows 41 and 56 ABC GHK recline significantly more than the other seats.

True. The Christmas lights display can be very entertaining on occasions.

QF74 yesterday would definitely have been *way* more entertaining for 00A and 00B than just about any other seat on the planet!

Hmm, on a 744, wouldn't its be more like seat 8A? Of course JB747 can confirm, bit my recollection of his office being in front of row 11 has a rest seat at 10A, then there are 4 crew seats in two rows, being the equiv of 9E/F and 8A/K. 00A would be in the coat locker or weather radar dome.

You'd have 1A or 1F's smelly socks all over you:shock:

Row 40 on some configs and IIRC row 53 on others. Bags of leg-room and they don't cost anything extra. Not emergency exit rows, but everything has to go up top for take-off / landing. DEFG have limited recline though.

I agree with tooner, 40A is one of my favourite seats on the 4 class 747, and 26A on the 2 class 747 (ex BNE) is also a good one.

No solid information on these but they seem to be allocated to higher status members, and not available for selection by bronzes and silvers. As a QP Bronze however, I've been preallocated these seats quite a few time based on my profile preferences (forward window) so the qantas computer (a.k.a. the powers that be) seem to like me :)

So I've currently got seat 80k booked from SIN-LHR on the 9th. I've got a request in for Business with a fallback to PE. Is it worth the upgrade to PE given I've got a pretty good seat?

IMHO -YES!

Better food, service tend to be quite attentive as well (in fact the quality of the service may be better than that for J due to staffing structures).
