Seats.aero - a useful tool for finding Qantas & Velocity reward availability

Just got an alert for a watched flight Muc-Sin 2x J SQ in July using velocity points, seems to be flights available on multiple days. Booked and then cancelled Lhr-Sin which were all I could get a couple of months ago. Very happy. Also saves over $700 in fees. Well worth the annual fee.

I'm keen to set up some QFF alerts about a year out so I hope their software works!

EDIT: Trying to set up my first alert and I keep getting the message "The alert you tried to create would already match an available flight. Please change your criteria or dates to ensure it doesn't match any flights already available."

I don't care if there are available rewards seats available right now, as they might disappear tomorrow, next month. But when I'm ready to book, maybe around July, Aug(?) then I want to be alerted. Is there some trick to getting my alert saved?

EDIT: So I set up some of the advanced settings, i.e. direct flight only, 1 specific carrier (QF in my case), number of seats. So all good!

OK, next question. My alerts have been set up and in my confirmation email it says
"Once we find availability, we'll send you an email and then delete the alert. If we don't find any availability, you won't hear from us again. Remember that we only check for availability periodically."

Does anyone know how often is their definition of "periodically"? Like daily, weekly, monthly? It seems a waste if they only check say monthly, and during the interim time between checks, reward seats have been released and taken without ever getting notified by seats.aero.

Definitely not monthly! If you are Pro user and create an alert for a specific date, we will update it more frequently, about every few hours. If it’s for a date range or any date, it will update around every day, but the timing can vary based on the mileage program and how far out the flight is.

You can see the Last Seen column in Explore to get a general idea of update frequency.

Awesome Ian. That's great. Daily is fine for my needs.
I was going to get into coding a c# utility using the API but if the check is daily or even every 2nd day that should be fine for my needs. My coding skills aren't up to scratch anyway!

With the new Classic Rewards Plus I presume (hope) seats.aero will offer an option to block those flights out so we can just search for the original classic rewards?
