Seat selection on a Cathay codeshare

Codeshares can be a right royal PITA when it comes to seat selection (even in J). In fact I think it’s become worse - maybe because all the airlines have locked down their system to only allow managing a booking with there metal.

One last thing, and I’ve mentioned above - if you’re QF WP (OWE), double check your FF# is entered correctly (including any leading zeros).

Did the CSOs acknowledge that your OWE status was linked to the booking?
Yup - I even mentioned that OWE should be entitled to seat selection in the conversation.
Was escalated to a supervisor and asked for a manual seat assignment but no dice.

Definitely linked to type of fare. I just changed all my flights to flexi and I can pre-select my seats on both the CX flights now.

My status was definitely recognised by CX and they put me in an aisle on the first row of economy at check in. My food order was taken before takeoff and delivered 20 minutes before general service. Got to the transfer security queue fast at HK and when I looked back after processing, the queue was 100 deep.

A new flight and the same issue on the codeshare with Cathay and no issue on the CX numbered flight. I logged a complaint and was given a canned response that nothing is guaranteed with partner airlines. I’ve responded saying this is a bug and advertised oneworld benefits are not being provided ,please go and work it out with Cathay. They can’t be multi-world just because the fix involves multiple parties.
