Hi all
I am planning to book two seats in WT+ on BA10 on 27 Oct and BA9 on 3 Nov and was wondering what the availability it is. I am planning to book in the next 2 days but if its selling out super quick then I can book tomorrow morning (need an email from my boss to confirm that I can have time off).

Cheers

Availability varies by segment. Are you looking for SYD-LHR-SYD, or SYD-BKK-SYD or BKK-LHR-BKK?

Assuming you want SYD-LHR-SYD, then BA10 on 27th October is showing W9 T7. The BA9 return on 3rd Nov is showing W7 T1. So if looking for 2 of the cheap seats (T fare class) then you are too late for the return trip.

Syd-bkk-syd:

Ba10- W9 T9.
Ba9 - W8 T5

From previous posts (ie discount WT+ fare) you're after the T bucket.

Do also be aware that availability varies by country. If you cannot get availability from BA Australia, do try BA USA and BA UK since they may be different

Well the tickets are booked - the only issue now is seat allocation....

Because I currently have no status on AAdvantage and have used that during my booking me and mrs sim have been booked in non-adjacent seats it seems. Is there a way that I can contact someone at BA and use my Gold status to move seats around?

Checking on checkmytrip.com we have 19G and 21K :(

This is a concern generally about my flights now in that I will have AA platinum status in about 2 months (return leg from BKK) but before then I have two rtn trips on Qantas and I want to make sure I get the benefit of my QF gold status.

Any thoughts help are as ever greatly appreciated :)

Cheers

Simon (and in the this case - Cheers from Mrs Sim too :))

Having just checked on ba.com I can move us together (I think) its just that mrs sim wont get the window seat and I might have to have the inner aisle seat next to someone else (she wont like sitting next to other people) - what I cant tell is if the other seats are reserved of if they are actually taken by someone...

Cheers again

I have found online checkin offers better seat selection than available when booking, as most blocked seats become unblocked, trick is to get online as soon as it opens some 24 hours before your flight.

Would the sensible thing be to change our seats now to make sure that they are together and then 24 hourrs before the flight try to check in online and see if we can get better seats? Seems a bit annoying that as a gold flyer I cant skip past that stage :(

Yep, that is the right plan. Pre-allocation of seats is not a OneWorld status benefit.

I just checked again and the seat next to mrs sim is now available so yoik its no longer available as I am sat in it :D

They ahve reached the preallocation limit for the return trip but I will check that (probably daily as I am kind of obsessive compulsive ;)) and see when things become available. One issue on the return flight is that at the 24hour point before the return flight I will actually be at my brother in law's wedding - hmm wonder what the internet access on my blackberry will be in Chon Buri province....

I am guessing you will be in/around Pattaya. You can buy a One2Call card, access charged @ 1 Baht/min, but don't expect great service or speed. Or you can just take a break from the wedding for 15 minutes. There are internet cafes every 50-100 metres that charge ~A$2/hour, most opening until 2:00-3:00am.

Well its my corporate mobile and I already expect to have at least one 2 hour conference call whilst I am in Thailand so a quick call to the BA the day before might be fine ;) Also I expect I will be checking email most days on my blackberry so I hope (do I really though given I am on vacation) I get reasonable coverage.

Must set a reminder to do this though - Mrs Sim would not be happy to not be sat next to me onflights

Cheers
