Seat Allocation via Expert Flyer

Mods feel free to move this if in the wrong spot.

I am only new to using Expert Flyer and I checked a flight I have recently booked in Y+ (reward booking) to RAR via AKL return. When I plugged in the flights (in May) into Expert Flyer seats in Y+ don't show any occupied seats. When booking the reward flights I remember at the time of the booking that a message popped up stating that you could not allocate seats at this time however to wait until you get to the airport to allocate seats. (fair enough, I thought)

Q1. Shouldn't Expert Flyer still show 2 seats allocated even though I didn't pick the seats?
Q2. Not an Expert Flyer question but with rewards flights can you ring and allocate seats before hand or do you have to wait until the airport.
Q3. Is the reason why you can't allocate seats at the time of the booking due to the seats being reward bookings or because it is a short haul international flight.
