I am booked on QF12 JFK - Syd on 8 July in L class economy on a seaman's tkt. I tried to reserve a seat but receive message to contact Qantas as the plane will be changed in LA. As I am on a ship hundreds of miles off the coast of Guyana, I do not have phone access. How do I email Qantas about confirming a seat?
Also is L class upgradeable with points? If so, how many points are needed?
I thought QF12 used the same plane flying to Sydney from LA as is used flyiing from JFK. Anyway to conform seats for both legs on line?
Thanks for any help

Plane changes between 388 and 744 at LAX.

96K L to Business SYD-JFK.

Have you considered Twitter?

As a frequent flyer on Seaman's ticket I think you will find they cannot be upgraded at any price.

I recently flew SYD-SIN on QF on a seaman's ticket and my requested upgrade was rejected due to ticket class.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If it's purely based on ticket class then "L" is undeed upgradable.

SWMBO & I were able to when on a LONE4 - SYD-JFK .... 192000 QFF points later ...

You want to email Qantas? Now that's funny! Good luck with that. Why do you think people spend hours on hold on the phone with Qantas? It's certainly not because they have the time to waste.

So true! Truer words were never spoken

L fare is the more expensive of the Rededeal fares and classed a "discount economy" when you you use the upgrade calculator. It's upgradable but will be behind "economy" and higher . Is your tier status SG?. This is a flagship route so upgrade potential is in the "wouldn't count on it" class.
except the loadings are quiet:

So with a bit of luck....
