Hi,

I've fried to figure it out, but most of the posts are rather old, so I thought I'd ask here.

I'm checking out flights from Perth to Manila and although I can easily figure out the SCs on QF, I can't figure out what I'd get on CX (via HKG). The website says that Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes, but I'm not sure if I'd be getting 70 SCs for Discount Economy or 140 SCs for Economy. I've tried a couple of different booking combinations on CX and couldn't get Y.

If anyone can shed some light, I'd be grateful.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

so I'm a bit confused.

It can be very difficult (and expensive) to book full "Y" - if it's the status credits you are after, probably better (and possibly cheaper) to look at PE fares.

I suspect Mileage Monkey has not caught up with the "simpler and fairer" enhancements introduced last year. And the MM Econ rates are actually for discount economy, not full.

Thanks for that, Aus ATC.
I am after SCs indeed, as I'm chasing Gold again. I'll be around 160 short, so I'm aiming to get really close to that.

QF has flights for around 1,5000 (vs. 1,150 with CX). I'll look into PE, but I'm afraid it might be a bit too expensive.

Trouble with PER is that as we all know, there are no longer any QF international flights from there, so you have to go via the east coast.
Are your eligible QF sectors up to scratch.
Maybe the reason QF is charging Aud$1500 vs CX charging Aud$1150 is that for QF, you have to fly out from PER to MEL/SYD/BNE then upwards.
QF fares might be more expensive, but if you do need the sectors to keep SG, then thats what you do need to do.

I'll check it out, thanks.

I should also check MH – they might have some good deals, which might get me some decent SCs.

UL also code shares on the MH flights exPER (when connecting to UL to CMB). Might actually be less expensive than MH for the fare classes needed to credit to your favorite FF program. Without showing favorites that works for CX MPC.

Happy wandering

Fred

MileageMoneky has not been updated for the Simpler calcs - either the simpler origin/destination table, or the bracket creep in mileage
On one of the threads there is an Excel Spreadsheet called "QFF Fairer and Simpler Calculator) - I have a v0.2

CX M Class is Discount Economy.
PER-HKG = 1875 pts / 25 SCs (3750miles)
HKG-MNL = 356 pts / 10 SCs (712miles)

so 70 SCs return

The SCs for PER-HKG come from the 'simplified' partner table

Thanks for that, moa999.

Book on CX and then call them up to change / insert the FF number.

I have not done it but others would say Finnair.com allows you to change the FF number too.

lol, thanks i will try again

the cathay website was telling me to refer to qantas.com

I was just told this is not possible. As long as I still get SCs, I'm not fussed.

I'm not sure which part you are saying is "not possible", so ignore this if we have crossed wires. But, whatever you do, ensure that your QFF number is registered for your booking, or you will not earn the SCs.

Oh yeah, my mistake.

I was asking about adding the QF flight number, not just adding the QFF number. It's possible to add the QFF number while booking, but I was also trying to find out if they allow the airline code change as well. So, the latter is not possible.

No - that has a revenue implication for CX. The marketing carrier will get a %ge of the fare.

More often than not the cheapest fare buckets are not available under codeshares.
