Scams like these

Maybe she actually was from CBA and just had the number of the person she wanted to speak to wrong.
No, different call. When I got calls from the sub-continent I'd ask what underwear they were wearing. Didn't matter male or female. They don't have to be a scammer and call me. The CBA woman was a scammer. I rarely get scam calls now.

Edit: Read the information from any bank and it will say they never call you.

For Clifford, hard to say.

Now all Aus Telco are spamming us, telling us that business that are registered will show their (provided) registered name, and unverified is most likely a scam.
But then, half or built more of calls/sms's are from 04 or overseas Wangiri calls.
If we could block calls from some countries... and/but yes, I know it can all be spoofed.

I wonder whether spoofing the registered/verified number of a business work?
For example I get SMS’s from Whiskymofo tempting me to buy stuff from them, if someone spoofs a registered Whiskymofo number does it appear as though Whiskymofo sent it on my ‘phone?

Also, my SMS “conversation” with “Unverified” is becoming quite long, and after only 8 days!

"Unverified" is a bit of a joke at the moment, as even legit senders can't get it right.

Recently I purchased a Woolies gift card online. The gift card details I received (perfectly legit) were from "unverified".

The onus is on the legit senders to get their numbers verified. A few are laggards - which is worrisome TBH.

Had an sms, for a (Lidia), I have had this number for 25 years, and never had a Lidia, was supposedly a REA trying to sell or saying, their colleague told them I was after buying a property, but I am a lazy working pooch, who does not earn enough to buy.
Replied and told them they are a scammer, ... and that I know my number would get on sold.
It was from a 04, ...
The Aus gov could have done a lot more, but this that business have to register their phone number, is just an easy cop out, really.

Blocking/being able to block calls by country of caller, (Wangiri calls by country) could have been a better way to spend our tax $.

This may have been real, when you inspect a place that’s up for sale they make you leave a number; my guess would be that Lidia made one up, because who wants REA’s having your details?! And the random number just happened to be yours (probably not totally random - she likely changed a few numbers of hers & her number’s fairly similar to yours).

But how is the government adding that ability into the software of everyone’s ‘phone?
I suspect you think they’re capable of more than they can actually do!

I keep getting texts from the same number saying you missed a call but they didn't leave a message and the phone definitely didn't ring and no calls in the register

Have never been to an open inspection, maybe someone put out my phone # as a decoy.
I am really too poor to even consider buying an apartment to live in, or to invest.
Just earn enough to survive.
Maybe the sender was fishing/pshing, but who knows.

I reckon it was a coincidence rather than intentional, someone probably named Lidia gave the REA a number she’d made-up on the spot, and it just happened to be yours.
I’ll bet the real Lidia has a number that differs from yours by … I’m gonna say 3 out of the last 6 digits; if I was handing over a fake number because I didn’t want them to call me back, I’d make it similar to my actual number just ‘cos it’s quicker than inventing all 10 digits. :)
