I assume I've not been the only one to get these 'tantalising' messages from "QANTAS." I note the message – which I've received twice – comes from their apparently brand-new email address "Qantas-Gift

Has anyone else received this?

Universite Pau is a respectable French university in the southwest but has no apparent links to our "notional" carrier.

The graphic style of the content is not bad but I was disappointed to see that they have demoted me from Platinum to Bronze. Perhaps the $99.50 is compensation?

For your amusement, here is the whole text.

This is a fraud don’t touch it. If Qantas was giving you a gift it would be a voucher for use on their flights or at their store so they wouldn’t be needing your credit card details.

Additionally if Qantas was giving out general gifts there would be a media release for the good press. If it was a specific event you would know why.

Edit: sorry on reread I can see you caught it was a fraud especially by the wrong status level. Thanks for making people aware by sharing the scam.

Qantas gifts? Ahaha. 🤣 😂🤣😹🤪

When I saw the title, I thought it was just referring to a waiver of the frequent flyer join fee

I contacted qantas, and got a reply from some dimwit called France, who said

"Dear Mr Stewart

Thank you for contacting Qantas Frequent Flyer.

As I send this email, I sincerely hope you and your family are very well and safe.

In regards to your concern, the previous email that you have received was from Qantas specially if the email was several years ago.

Kind regards,

France

"Qantas Frequent Flyer" <[email protected]>

I responded to him:-

Hello again, France.

As you have not responded to my last email, I am going to assume that your statement that:-
"the previous email that you have received was from Qantas" is correct, and I will process the offer.

Once it is safely in my bank account, I will thank you.

If it is a scam, and I get financially disadvantaged, I will expect Qantas to re-imburse any losses I incur.

Kind regards

Michael Stewart

Let's see what happens now? lol
