OK.... I need 220 points by end of March to keep Gold. I'm in Melbourne.

Any ideas would be fab. Also..... as stupid as it sounds, I still don't think I understand HOW to book a JASA ... is it just a matter of ticking the business class options and then using points+pay - or is it something different?

Cheers,

Log onto QFF using your account details, pick award bookings and select any seat awards then enter the details:

This will then bring up a range of options, look for the low priced J options, on the dates indicated in the screen shot your next page will look like this:

Thats 180 SCs which is the best deal possible on those dates, add two connection flights and you have 200 SCs, or turn one of the connections into a JASA as well, making 220SCs.

How about a trip to Alice Springs and get 240 SCs. (first time posting an image so not sure how it will look!)

Only if you fly through Syd......best value is the HBA jaunt.

Best value is any connecting flight. Given Mel-bum starts from MEL, ASP via SYD avoids a positioning flight, overnight accom (unless for some reason one would choose to spend a night in ASP!). Also markis10's proposal is only 160SCs leaving a further 40 to find (after 2 x 10SCs for the positioning flight).

62,000ish points for 240SCs (in a day) vs 46,000ish points + paid or YASA MEL-HBA-MEL + ????

(don't you just love a challenge!!!);)

Personally, I would be using the minimum points and paying some cash on the ASP option. The HBA-CBR was 32000 points.

Also not all connecting flights are created equal. There are some better value routes out there.

OOOPS - missed the SYD-HBA bit!!! Thinking 4 x 40SCs.

CBR-HBA is the best value at 100 Scs for 16K but availability with one flight a day is not great, if you need more then the run to DRW ex TSV is better which can also be done as a day return, it all depends on where you live, how much time you have and the cost of the connections including accom:

Speaking from recent experience where I needed ~140 SC's out of MEL...
Anything out of CBR in J is worth a look, must be outside of Parliamentary sitting weeks though! I also incorporated a JQ JetFlex into my SC run which was pretty good value.

Also CBR-ADL via SYD in J is ~$700 for 100 SC's if booked early enough. I also looked at the MEL-TSV/CNS options and couldn't quite get them to work logistically and financially.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I ended up doing MEL-SYD-ASP-ADL-MEL. Gives me the 220 I need exactly. It was probably a bit more costly at $175 & 48,000 points, but meant I didn't have any positioning flight costs and no overnight accommodation.
:D

My only worry is a one hour turn around in Alice. What happens if the flight in is delayed and I miss the on-flight!?:?::!:

Cheers all.

Your in J and on the one ticket, not an issue ;)

Maybe on the same flight? I would check this out!

Nup, no luck there, there is the OPs flight from SYD and a flight from ADL both arriving within 10 mins of each other, both operate the same return legs ;)

If you are on one PNR though, you have nothing to worry about :)
