Ok I'm not going crazy... I went back twice to look at both aircraft I saw at Darwin International todayFirst one was about at 1ish was an Antov 124 - effing huge!!! Saw the tail before I saw anything else...Second was a QF 747!! Whilst these obviously aren't a rarity at other airports, it is in DRW... Anyone know why she was in town?? Well either of them? CheersSimsy

The AN124 was a mining charter ex PHE , no idea of the 744 but there is some unusual birds all over the place with Talisman Sabre on.

The 747 may have been an aerial refueler maybe.
There should be quite a few F-15 Eagles from the USAF up that way as well.

Oh sorry. I just re-read the first post.

I dont beleive that Qantas have any Air 2 Air refuelers in their fleet (interesting concept though) So just ignore my previous post. :p:p

Is the Antov still there?

I just dropped some folks off at darwin a few minutes ago didn't notice anything, but then I wasn't looking.

PITY! I was supposed to fly out of darwin at midday today but changed my flights last night :( :( :(

Nah mate it was gone quick as a flash... Aircraft of that size, my bet it would cost a pretty penny to keep it on the ground....

I found out what the QF 747 was too - it was the QF flight from SYD - HKG, diverted to offload a passenger who suffered cardiac arrest midflight
