Saver Award Availability on Daily MEL-LAX flights

Since the (seemingly) joint decision from VA from October to stop daily flights from MEL-LAX and UA to commence the same route daily with the Dreamliner, I decided to look into the availability of J seats using Mileage Plus. From all my searching, it appears that there is literally no availability at all. Does that sound right from more experienced United flyers?

If correct, would this suggest not upgrade availability either?

The standard points charge of 175,000 plus $80 taxes each way doesn't really appeal.
