A shame they are in this situation (though good they may get out of it), have flown SK in the past and been happy with the service, though I think they have headed a little down-market in the interim.

The troubled Scandinavian airline SAS has said it is close to reaching a deal with trade unions needed to avoid bankruptcy, following all-night talks.

They have come to a deal with all eight unions. Hmm, I would be surprised if they tanked, especially being government backed. Saying that, Scandinavian governments are funny things. They weren't prepared to give endless bailouts to Saab or Volvo.

Basically the unions agreed to a longer working week of 47.5 from 42, Retirement at 65 not 60, reduced holidays and reduced pay. SAS chairman Fritz Schur said "Now it's business as usual, now we will fly just as we usually do." at a press conference on Monday after the eight unions accepted the new contracts:

I quite like SK. I mainly fly ARN HEL with them because I really like their lounge facilities in ARN. Especially compared to the Menzies lounge used by AY and BA, which is quite frankly an absolute disgrace.
