SAS's premium heavy LRs​

With only 157 seats, SAS's A321LRs are fairly premium-heavy, precisely what is needed for long-haul narrowbody service to offset the higher seat-mile costs. They have 22 fully flat seats in SAS Business, 12 seats in SAS Plus (premium economy), and 123 in SAS Go (economy).

Who will be the first AFFer to try?

Not sure when they start the service but a random look at late May/early June reveals AUD2554 in J from GOT-EWR nonstop return.
Same flights:
Y+ $1920 with ‘extra reclining seats’
whY $567 with 79cm pitch being noted.

~8 hr flights and both directions at night.

Not me

But some people will use it rather than taking connections via ARN, CPH or OSL and getting the TATL leg on an A330.

No different to flying transatlantic on a 757 (probably better), certainly doable but maybe not the first choice.

I flew 11 hours yesterday in an A321LR (in J) and it was fine. I've shared some thoughts on it here:

I flew 11 hours in a narrow-body and didn't hate it

Many airlines have started to use narrow-body aircraft on long-haul flights. For example, several airlines like TAP Air Portugal, Aer Lingus, JetBlue and SAS are now flying Airbus A321LRs on selected trans-Atlantic routes. Virgin Australia will also start using Boeing 737s on Cairns-Tokyo...

Well, it turns out that not enough people are prepared to take a trans-Atlantic flight in an A321 in order to get a direct flight, vs connecting and getting a wide-body.
