San Fran for NYE or not

Flying into SFO on 30th December and debating if we should stay there for NYE or move down the coast to Monterey or Santa Barbara areas - or even Napa. We have been to San Fran many times so it's not about seeing the sites again. Have 2 young teenagers with us so not so much about being out and about partying - more about having a nice dinner experience. Any feedback welcome. Thanks
