Seven years after final flight, doors close on Filton's Concorde

Posted by Max Kingsley-Jones at 11/26/2010 7:19 AM CST
Seven years ago today Concorde made its last ever flight, and there is some sad news about the very aircraft that made that flight.

Now preserved at Airbus’s Filton plant near Bristol, British Airways Concorde G-BOAF will not be reopened to the public when it comes out of a maintenance and preservation programme this winter. However it will be returned to its external display location on the edge of the airfield until a permanent home can be found.

That is Sad.
But its quite easy to see the original test Concorde at Duxford anyways.

Saw one of the Concordes recently at the National Air & Space Museum in DC. Very impressive, pity you couldn't get inside. Not quite as impressive as the SR-71 or the space shuttle, but impressive considering it was used for RPT.

Could enter no 214 G-BOAG at Museum of Flight Seattle.

They also have the 707 Air Force One on display...

Spent an afternoon there earlier in the year.... close to being in AFF heaven

I really should have got that small loan and done my trip in the months before they finally pulled concorde. The sacrifices we make for the kids.
