Is there a particular board here for pre-planning advice on a RWT, e.g. where to start, buy etc. I have seen the board for "Flight Research Assistance", which I am happy to use when I know more details, but just looking for general advice.

Many thanks in advance.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

With such a general and broad request I'd probably suggest searching google for around the world airfares to get an idea of what options are out there, then ask away in here for specifics once you find one that fits your requirements.

By "pre-planning advice on a RWT, e.g. where to start, buy etc" we assume you mean a ticket paid with cash
The 2 main alliance's have a RTW product's
Round-the-world fares - oneworld
Round the World Fare - Star Alliance
Australia tends not to be best place to buy. Starting in other countries can offer significant savings

Some airlines and/or travel agents package up flights for a RTW. But it depends where you want to go

Sorry, yes I suppose I should have given a bit more details.

I will be starting probably in NZ, or OZ with a separate flight from NZ. I prefer OW as I am WP with QF.

Mainly looking to include Asia, Middle East, Europe, and the US/Canada. I've read that if UK based it is worthwhile starting your RWT in Cairo, or Lisbon etc. I was wondering if the same applies in this region. Can I get a bargain if start in Fiji? :)

Is there a cabin class in mind? Do you have a budget? Are you willing to travel low cost carriers if getting you where you want and around the world can be less than $2k all up? ;) Do you have any airline preference? Any airline status? So many questions :)
