So we walked over to the coffee shop and enjoyed these instead.

On the way back to the ship and we passed so many of these close to the road.

We were back about 6.30pm and are not leaving until around 10pm as the Berlin day trippers are still some hours away. And the rain right now is very heavy and it's foggy. Pretty happy with our decision right now.

We also passed through the area where Krystalnacht had occurred in the area. Christian became very emotional as he pointed out the tiny plaques where people - men, women and children simply disappeared.

Christian also cares for a group of refugee children who arrived as asylum seekers without parents. He seems like an amazing guy.

Lovely sail out from Warnemunde. Of course the sun appeared just as we were leaving. The locals lined the foreshore and wave goodbye. Given the late hour that is lovely from a group of people swarmed by cruise ships. There was also a local oompah band playing in the buffet and lots of German food to taste. Photos later.

Pushka thanks for the photos of Wismar, they bought back some good memories - luckily we had sunshine not rain. As an old film buff - in both ways - I practically swooned when I saw the glass plaque in the pavement commemorating the making of Nosferatu in Wismar.

Have you tried the smoked fish rolls from the old fishing boats in the harbour at places like Wismar and I would guess Warnemunde?

Yes - that was the name they mentioned. Me - I'm not a seafoodie at all - bland fish at most but I have eaten sardines.

Are these the stalls you are thinking of? Bucketing down at the time

The oompah band last night.

These are of the sail out - taken through a window so not all that clear.

Some of the crowd braved the far end of the lighthouse rocks to wave goodbye. The seas were quite rough.

I just started on the packet of gummy bears. Good grief. They are coughographic.

Yes those are they. In fact, I am pretty sure that we bought some from that particular boat. Crispy roll, piece of smoked mackerel or cod or many other types of fish with bit of lettuce for about 2 euro - lovely.

Keep up the great photos.

He showed us  Flank meaning side above the hips and below the ribs.

He was the dead spit image of a younger Hamish from Hamish and Andy. Another Aussie couple told him that a couple of weeks ago.

Wonder how he will go when he googles around and sees the antics those two get up to!

Pity you didn't get to Stralsund and the island of Rugen, definitely recommended, I do reailse that you are on a cruise and can't go everywhere! :)

This guy was a bit of a larrikin and reckon he will think it pretty cool.

Yes - there will always be things we miss but the last days in Port we've walked over 11 kilometres a day.

Just spent a pleasant 2 days in Copenhagen. It's a beautiful city and we loved the design of the modern buildings which are sleek and clean lines using glass and marble to achieve a pleasant effect. The canals and waterway running through is a great drawcard and on clear sunny days the locals were out in great force.

We started by catching a HoHo bus into the city as we didn't arrive until after noon. There are 2 lines and of course we took the wrong one as evidenced by poor sporadic commentary, few and extremely crowded buses and they would not give info about a stop until after we passed a stop so people missed getting off when the wanted to.

We loved Nyhavn canal and all the bustle and restaurants where we had a bite to eat on the first day. Lots of walking and we then walked across the bridge to the food stalls and modern museum.

We took a canal tour which was probably our favourite part. These tours are a must and extremely popular. The boats are always full.

And our first glimpse of this lady from the water. Always a manic place.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1500105442.972580.jpg

We walked over the main bridge which is cleverly designed to retract as tall boats pass by. But woe betide any pedestrian who gets in the way of the bikes as they are travelling fast. They have dedicated lanes that are as wide as roads.

We visited here and both attached our wish.

We'd already had lunch but thought the cafes inside the next building looked intriguing so that was the plan for tomorrow.

The locals and tourists were enjoying the sunshine.
ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1500105714.026670.jpg

We then crossed the bridge and joined the crowd here where this funky jazz group was playing. An icecream and beer for him worked well in the sunshine.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1500105762.729659.jpg

We then walked back to the ship - quite a distance but lovely in the sunshine but cold in the shade. Passing by several landmarks.

The Royal Palace and fountain one one side of the canal

is lined up perfectly with the new Opera House on the other side

And as we neared the ship we saw the mermaid from the land.

We'd walked a long way this afternoon and were glad to simply grab a quick meal in the dining room which seemed rather busy. We'd thought most would dine onshore but the shuttle bus ended at 8pm and the hoho bus at 5.30pm. Clearly not the best timing.

I've got more photos from Day 2 but realised they are still on the camera. Day 2 was the day I found out that everything green is not necessarily good.

Thanks for the great report. I am thoroughly enjoying it as we'll see so much of it soon. Thanks for the picture of Silver Whisper too which we join in Stockholm in four weeks.

Wait till you get to Amsterdam for the manic bikes. By the time you look right and left to check the bike lane, then the cars, then the tram, then the cars again and then the bike lane it's a marvel anyone manages to cross the road. Bikes have total right of way.

I think pedestrians should have right of way as they are much greener than bikes. There are very few cars in Copenhagen and they are rather basic due to that import tax. It will be interesting to compare the two.
