Any ideas what the cargo is? Something for one of the mines? Tunnelling equipment?

I think its a sip and go job, after delivering two NH90 choppers to Ohakea, which it cannot depart from with full tanks.

That makes sense as I don't see why it would've flown over Australia to get to NZ and then come back, per the log on flight memory. Was scratching my head wondering what NZ would be sending over ;)

I was at Ohakea in April and was able to inspect their NH90 variant. It is a very impressive chopper

I wonder why they did not take some Aussie ones?

They wanted theirs for a different role

Oh well, at least we will get some business when they need to move them offshore, they dont have a tactical transporter that fits!

Must've been a pretty long fuel stop then as it was still there around 2000 hours tonight parked next to the EK777.

Have seen the AN124 in DRW a number of times taking anything from pipes to KUL for Conoco Phillips to music equipment for touring bands such as Sting & Elton John. Mind you when Elton performed in DRW he flew in from SYD the afternoon of the concert courtesy of Paspaley's Falcon 900 before flying out the same evening to HKG on the same a/c post concert.

A splash without much dash, and possibly picking up a tiger to go to DRW:

Date Aircraft Origin Destination Departed Arrival Duration
03/10/2012 A124 Brisbane (YBBN / BNE) Darwin Int'l / RAAF (YPDN / DRW) 06:40 EST 10:11 CST Scheduled
02/10/2012 A124 Ohakea Airbase (RNZAF) (NZOH / OHA) Brisbane (YBBN / BNE) 10:53 NZDT 11:59 EST 4:06
30/09/2012 A124 Singapore Changi (WSSS / SIN) Ohakea Airbase (RNZAF) (NZOH / OHA) 18:50 SGT 11:09 NZDT (+1) (?) 11:19

The AN124 was back in country last week, dropping off some Apaches at ROK so the Singapore Defence force can practice without upsetting the neighbours.
