Frankly you can't believe a word that comes out of AAB's mouth so his statements and attitude don't surprise me but like the rest of the stuff, I don't believe he doesn't care about safety. He may be saying he doesn't and that the MIA incident was normal but you just can't trust that man.

I would not be concerned when flying QR about safety.

I certainly don't trust that man or a word that comes out of his mouth. I do think it's a stupid thing for an airline CEO to say though.

I don't trust what comes out of his mouth either, but we can't deny he and/or his cohorts have created a top airline and kept some of the luxuries that most airlines have cut over the years.

From most airlines too :p Mr. Al Baker does do a very good job of keeping his airline in the news

Easy to do when you keep your cabin crew locked up between flights...

No such thing as the aircraft 'auto aborting' the takeoff. Always pilot initiated, even on latest gen aircraft.

Here is the Qatar initial report. http://www.caa.gov.qa/sites/default/files/Preliminary report QR778 Miami_v3.pdf

It includes a picture of the damage. The tear breached the pressure vessel.

A particular point to note is that the aircraft actually left the runway before lift-off. Chance of damage in that case...about 100%, even if you didn't feel it.

Runway centreline lights change colour as you approach the end. The last 1,000 metres are red/white. The last 300 are red. You would never expect to get into the red, even on a heavy take off from a short(ish) runway, unless, perhaps, you were continuing after an engine failure.

Although I have seen the articles about 'staff treatment' by former staff etc. and I am by no way agreeing with them or saying it doesn't happen, but I think this is more based on the old saying 'there is always another side to the story' disgruntled staff.etc.

On a QR flight this year when flying in J I noticed a FA with an Kiwi accent, so when I was waiting for a toilet up front was having a chat with her, she was from auckland but moved to Doha for the job. I asked her about the articles I had read and she said there are strict rules of conduct etc. don't be mistaken but for most part the articles are exaggerated and where they were true it is often just a power hungry manager being over zealous rather than it being blanket policy. She said that QR had a great training spread, and staff amenities being top notch. That being said she confirmed that the pregnancy policy does exist, but with most expats in Qatar/UAE it is generally not a lifetime career choice(no citizenship etc) and she chose Qatar for the experience and purely for the job, you don't go there to enjoy the lifestyle you go there to work, earn and go back home.

Very honest and interesting insight none the less from her, after all the cabin crew are from all corners of the world so can't be that bad if even people from 1st world countries want to work there (I have met Swiss, German and British cabin crew before on QR among others).

I don't doubt that there isn't some sort of license taken in such stories. But there has to be some truth behind it. Especially if they keep coming up. Add that to what sounds like a lax safety culture means that QR are not high on my list of airlines to support.

If you wish to talk about staff treatment, please find the appropriate thread, as that topic has nothing to do with this thread, thanks.
