Just updating on rumours around the travel websites. Apparently a fourth VFF level of Platinum plus is to be announced soon.

There was talk from the CEO about offering VFF WP's more.

I note that there is little point in earning more than the 800SC's to requal for plat. So I've been putting that extra flying towards getting QF Gold.

If it's anything like QF P1, be prepared for WP to lose most of their benefits :)

What a joke.. Why offer a Platinum plus when they can't offer their plats anything substantial????

The challenge will be to come up with benefits that are unique and not just a carbon copy of what QF does. Indeed should be difficult to replicate!

Yeah, I think this would be a good way for them to really annoy any Platinums who don't qualify for plat, given the rather marginal benefits of plat over gold...

I guess it *might* help retain some people who would otherwise steer flights to QF after making enough status (like me), if the benefits were enticing enough!

Exactly.
What can they offer?? Another four comp upgrades (well comp if you shell for flexi)
Unless it involves entry to The Club

Now that I think of it... If plat+ folks had enhanced availability of award seats that would make it tempting for me to go for instead of trying for some QF status along with VA plat or gold!

But I'm guessing that wouldn't be possible on partner airlines anyway, and if it's VA only it's of extremely limited use.

All QF did was look at the things they 'enhanced' away for WP and then brought some of them back for P1. Any of the 'service based' additions were/are complete failures.

If you do not think you will make the new level, you do not want it to come to fruition, as it will be all bad for WP.

Why is everyone so negative? Let's get past the announcement before flushing the idea away. It could be a pleasant surprise.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

An example of the issues of bringing in a new level.

WP+ will want a better seat selection than WP. At QF, the front rows of Y were already blocked from WP selection so they were able to open those rows up to P1.

At VA, WP can already select row 3 now. To give WP+ a better seat selection than WP, VA may follow the lead of QF and block row 3 to WP until check in. This would remove the biggest benefit of WP over SG (as per the other thread).

it's fair to be skeptical. the current program was designed by phil who is no longer there, and every iteration since has been largely negative as the focus has clearly been desperation to extract maximum revenue at the cost of bigger opportunities.

plat1 is no 'gold standard' and i would go as far to consider p1 a failure and nothing but a cost center for qantas.

looking at the last round of changes to the VA program , the data showed strong correlation toward a new status level. It's clear as day this was a direction the program is heading.

a new level would need to show strong signs of innovation or it's going to be a massive let down.

i wouldn't get my hopes up.

I cant see someone earning 2700 SCs pa on QF metal as a cost centre. Suspect the average P1 is quite profitable
