Normally wouldn't bother with such trivia though this was posted on Twitter by JONNYC an hour ago.
Interesting.

AA metal?
Stockpiling AA miles during sales might suddenly be a good option.

Where would the aircraft for LAX-JFK-LAX come from then?

Unless AA are going to run a permanent evening departure out of BNE and it will be double daily BNE-LAX for QF/AA

Originally the plane from SYD-LAX continued onto JFK, i remember reboarding the same plane and seat when route was first introduced, then later they started switching out for the plane from BNE which was a pain as smaller so always requires a call to get seats sorted as cant do yourself online due to different aircraft on one flight number. So Qantas could either start using plane from SYD again adding capacity onto JFK or use one of the two planes from MEL.

Its just a rumour at the moment, but it seems to have merit in that it would be a solution for QFi rather stretched and over-committed long haul international fleet, considering the high utilization of the B789 and the A380 fleet (and eventual retirement of the B744 fleet) means that you only need one tiny thing to go wrong somewhere in the world and the effect flows through the entire long haul network. Putting AA on BNE-LAX also protects QF's decent yields on its SYD-LAX routes.

Well BNE is getting BNE-ORD fights from March, so maybe the BNE-LAX plane is going to be used for that route, hence the codeshare with AA for BNE-LAX.

Interestingly if I indicate I want to go SYD-ORD, Qantas website tries to get me to go SYD-LAX (QF) then LAX-ORD (AA) - why not go QF whole way SYD-BNE-ORD?

It kinda make sense since BNE is getting direct SFO and ORD flights. Might be a bit of overkill to have QF metal on LAX as well, especially with the JV fully approved with AA.

With the retirement of the Qantas 747s, Qantas will need to replace the aircraft flying SYD-JNB and SYD-HND with A380s or 787s - and those planes have to come from somewhere. AA taking over one or two flights between LAX and Australia would allow for that.

The question of where the aircraft for LAX-JFK comes from remains a good point though. Perhaps QF93/94 or QF11/12 (less likely) would become a QF 789 service?

I would have thought it more likely that AA would take over some of the MEL-LAX flights than BNE-LAX, but I guess anything is possible.

Oh no AA business class is very average and whY...well let's not go there.
I’ve been hearing this for years but is this still the truth or have they got a lot better?
One of the bosses sons travelled LAX-SYD on their 789 flagship business class just before Christmas and reckons it was so far ahead of QF’s offerings it wasn’t funny. He is 6’2 and said the seat was amazingly comfortable and he didn’t feel cramped at all. He said the food and service was top notch and surprised him to some extent as plenty of people were trying to get him to steer clear of them.

Personally I think the food is terrible on AA J compared to QF. Also as a prime route very very 'seasoned' FA's. But like many things it's all personal preference.

Did you just strike bad food/crew on the day or does this happen all the time?

I’m yet to fly AA SYD-LAX or vv, but have had some great flights on USA domestic and a few international (but never in Y 😉)

My AA J flight LAX-SYD was streets ahead of QF A380 in seat/bed comfort, and that is a big consideration on a late night departure. I mean, I've eaten dinner before boarding and then I want to sleep as long as possible. So food is not high on my priority list for this route/timing.
