RTW for 4 in J with 1,000,000 QF points

So I'm sure many of you saw this article in the SMH traveller section: Round-the-world in luxury: What 1 million frequent flyer points will get you

I'm really wondering how in the world a lowly QF member found 4 J seats on all those QF and OW flights - I certainly can (almost) never find even 2 seats on international routes as lowly bronze member.

My first reaction is that this story is, without knowing the full routing and how far out the seats were booked, questionable at best.

I was a mere silver and got my whole family (6 people) 280k rewards: Booked in Dec / Jan the prior year for Dec-Jan 2017/2018
Perth -> Zurich via Hong Kong
Rome->Berlin via london
London->New York
New York to Vancouver
Vancouver to Dallas
Dallas to Perth via Doha

New York to Vancouver - had 4 people in business - 2 in economy
Van->Dallas - economy (plane only had first and economy)

So it WAS very doeable -
However with the collapse of Cathay availability - I dont think it will ever happen again
