If I wanted to do a multi-stop trip in the manner of a RTW ticket but actually wanted to do a loop, out and back, is there an appropriate type of ticket and is it competitive in price to RTW offerings?

For example, if I wanted to go to Europe via Asia, especially India, and the Middle East, and later back through Africa and Mauritius, could this be done either using or earning Qantas FF?

Just wish there was a fare that had EUR-Asia-SWP only - would be great for SC earning as all of my remit is Asia/SWP and I have to travel to the UK regularly...

You could try the OneWorld Award at 142,000 QFF points. I have used it to go Australia - Europe - Africa - Middle East (via Europe) - Australia. Adding India might be possible via Jordan and coming back from Africa might be possible via JNB - SYD.

Note that the only oneworld routes servicing Mauritius are BA: LHR-MRU v/v and JNB-MRU v/v. :(

Building on MrHyde's suggestion, that leaves LHR-MRU-JNB-SYD as food for thought.

I think what you are looking for is the One-World 4 Continent Circle Trip Explorer - prices ex-Australia at $3699 in economy.

You could do this fare by flying

OZ-BOM on CX (via HKG) or (QF via SIN). Or HKG-DEL on CX or HKG-BLR on DragogonAir

Then India-LHR on BA/Finnair
OR BOM/DEL - Amman - many European cities on RJ (or AMM-Budapest on Malev)

Then LHR-JNB, Cape Town, Durban, Harare, Livingstone, Mauritius, Victoria Falls and Windhoek on BA
Cape Town, Durban, Harare, Livingstone, Mauritius, Victoria Falls and Windhoek - JNB on ComAir. You may have to pay for an additional OW fare from Mauritius to JNB.

JNB-SYD on QF

As another completely different option: Maybe look at the Virgin Group ATW fares.

Personally, as an extreme option, I'd look at OneWay fares all the way. Something like....

Mar 3, 2011
SYD-KUL-BOM on MH $579 (possible but unlikely Velocity earning)
BOM-LHR on Egypt Air or Air India $400 (possible *A earning)
LHR-JNB on EK $750 (possible but unlikely Velocity earning)
JNB-SYD on MH $670 (possible but unlikely Velocity earning)

Total = $2400
Gee, might do it myself.

Qantas don't advertise it much, but this thread can help:

140,000 pts. rtw award?

Basically if you can book an itinerary that includes travel on two oneworld airlines other than Qantas in, say, Business Class it will cost up to 280,000 point each + tax. (First Class is 420,000 each and 140,000 for economy)

The limits are 35,000 miles, 16 segments and 5 stopovers.
