Royal Air Maroc to join OneWorld? [CONFIRMED]

I just wish they would include their flights in the Oneworld Explorer planners ahead of the date.
I want to do a round the world flight in June-August.
After Royal Air Maroc joins to open up extra flights between Europe, North Africa and the middle east, but before LATAM leaves and shuts down all options in South America.

Oneworld finally confirmed the rumors and made a press release.

Morocco is considered part of Europe for the oneworld explorer RTW ticket. Might need to consider a stop in Casablanca this year.

Good news but it's over 18 months away at best. Oneworld could be quite a different beast by then.

Very pleased to have been wrong here.

Think of all the oneworld paraphernalia that's going to have to be re-printed, only to have to be done again in a few months when LATAM shuts the door.

It took quite an effort to convince Qantas of this on my last DONEx. The rules are so complicated.

I included Morocco in a QF-booked DONEx way back in about 2011, flying into CMN on IB from MAD. No issues recognising that CMN was part of the European zone.

I'm definitely planning to give Royal Air Maroc a try once they're a part of Oneworld.

The timing is a little annoying for me personally though as 1 April is exactly the date that my Oneworld status will drop from Sapphire to Ruby (meaning I won't get lounge access any more on a Y ticket).

That are not many cities that I would never return to....Casablanca is one of them! Dirty, disorganised and everyone there is a scammer until proven otherwise. Apart from the mosque, not much there piqued my interest.

Currently Royal Air Maroc website will not allow a QF FF number to be added to any booking including after the start date. Thus no points or credits.

Perhaps access and "manage your booking" after Apr1 will solve the issue.

They are not in Oneworld yet. All of these new benefits only apply after 1 April 2020.

Yep Casablanca is not worth the effort IMO but Fes, Marrakech and Rabat are excellent cities to visit.

As is Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt of course (as in QR, based in the Middle East). We'll be able to do 'Europe' on a RTW fare without actually setting foot in the continent (sensu stricto) :) QR used to have a 5th Freedom flight from Tunis to Casablanca; not sure if its still there.

I used RAM a lot when I was working in Morocco. Its definitely a second tier airline - hopefully will be made to pull its service socks up with some OneWorld rules.

I see they have a new terminal building for Rabat (RBA), since I visited. The old one was small, very old and simply awful to use. Casablanca's (CMN) terminal wasn't great, either. When I was using it it was like India - you couldn't enter the terminal building without presenting a ticket and having bags x-rayed. Long lines in the hot sun. Marrakesh (RAK) I recall being small, but busy and pretty decent. I see RAM still flies to 5 cities in France from RAK.

Today is the day! A quick search shows AT flights available for redemption with QF points :D

I was supposed to be one one of them (paid), still waiting for my partial cancellation refund for three weeks now (50% of fare)

Is it just me, or are there no J award seats showing as available on AT? I can see plenty of Y availability, but nothing in J on any route.

I was planning to travel to DSS this month with Royal Air Maroc. Obviously that's no longer happening...

With 50 years of flying experience, I will never set foot on another Royal Air Maroc plane. Geneva to Casablanca in 2019 was a flight I will never forget for all the wrong reasons.

Very much looking forward to trying them out and seeing more of Morocco when the world gets over its sickness ;)
