Row 40 (Y) on 4 class 744

I was on a 744 last week, QF31. 40ABC didn't have the cutout, but DEFG did. I'm 183cm and had no problem with legroom in 40C. I think the bulkhead may be closer to the seat in DEFG, hence the need for the cutout. Of course, I could be wrong.

Thanks. I had it in my mind that there was a cut out in the bulkhead but perhaps I misunderstood.
I was in 40C on a SIN-MEL flight last week and there is a cut-out in the bulkhead (40ABC) that gives a little extra leg room.

It is not a bad seat and that section of WHY is fairly quiet.

I would say row 40 is gold in whY (because you don't have to pay for it). We had row 40 ABC, DEF on the way from SYD - JFK in March and it was great to have the leg-room. Unfortunately we had row 53 on the way back and the "mini cabin" feel was lost.

Only downside on that flight was 2 sick kids on the way over and spending nearly 45 hours looking at the comforts of PY!

I'm in 40D from SYD-LAX next week and am hoping that the configuration will be the same as on the Kangaroo route and there will be a cutout.

As you had it when you flew to JFK I'm hoping it will be the same.

You should be right - it is its own mini-cabin as the toilets are behind the wall behind the seats. Bear in mind the recline is not fantastic, but the leg-room is.:D

Thanks :)

I'll take legroom over recline any day.

Is there much noise from the toilets?

Depends how the food is on that flight ;)
Seriously, it's not too bad. You won't hear it over your headphones. I don't notice it when sleeping.

I prefer an aisle seat to a window. 40G is quiet and dark (good for sleeping or just watching a movie) due to the crew rest at 40HJK.

I'm going to give 40G a go on my December trip to the UK. Just gone through the seat selection both ways. (Mind you still hoping for the upgrade!) :)
