Row 4 seating on 737/800

but it is touched all the time. Soo soo many of my flights I end up with a low status person next to me despite plenty of other empty seats.

I can't see huge consistency in Row 4 availability. Sometimes I can get it before T-80, sometimes inside T-80, sometimes not at all.
Sometimes, if I'm not in Row 4 the row is full... or not...

What this essentially means is that since Row 4 is such a premium and gets filled with non-platinums...... Gold/Silvers in rows 5+ get the best seats on the plane with nobody next to them.

How's that for status devaluation?

I've noticed that T-80 is only opening up 4A and 4F. When I check Expert Flyer the aisle seats are blocked but not occupied. Do P1's get to take the aisle or perhaps they reserve them for CL. There was a CL on my flight the other day and he was in 5D, so maybe sometimes CL's cannot even get row 4!

I have recently (within the last few weeks) had a completely open row 4 at T-80 (domestic flight), so unless it is a recent change, my experience is different.

Rows 4 & 5 are hit and miss on my regular flights.

Generally BNE-SYD on a Friday night those rows are quite busy yet on a Sunday evening not so busy and are available at T-80 hours. On other less popular routes rows 4 & 5 are almost always available at T-80 hours.

I'm in 4A today on my way over to AKL. 4B has been showing as blocked on EF right up until last night. Now it is occupied with the middle seat in the five rows behind empty. I had the chance to move back to 8A with B blocked but then I thought I'd spite my nose to hurt my face and not give in. It will be interesting to see if Mr, Ms, Mrs, or Miss 4B is a P1.

I fly as a P1 an average of 4 sectors a week in 4C on 737-800 equipment. 9 times in 10 4B is a non or low status pax even though there are many empty seats further back. From my observation the load management system employs different strategies based on time of day and overall LF. Its almost random as to when and to who row 4 seating is offered to after T-80.

OT: I'm in 4A tonight from MEL and was in 4A on the way down. Going to SYD tmw morning and I am in 4C. All chosen online.

You look at their boarding pass and try not to be caught snooping

Just had a look at my record of flights, and the last time I wasn't in row 4 was 2010... though I'm not a frequent flyer of the 737

Am faced with a 4B or 14C choice on a BNE-MEL flight tomorrow. Think I'll stick with the 14C unless a window or aisle comes up in 4. I'm rather fond of row 14 aisle seats.

Am normally able to snaggle row 4 at T-80 in/out of NZ (if not flying on a J saver special) and usually in/out of DRW also.

Just to be cheeky if I see my seatmate trying to oggle my BP or giving me the once over I'll hide it, or put one from an earlier flight out just to confuse them.

When 4A/C get the CSM greeting and 4B is ignored it's probably a reasonable assumption.

Last trip 4ABC all WP and 5C CL did not get a CSM greeting at all, someone in 5F did get one but that could have been a VIP

I know you have all been on the edge of your (row 4) seats about this one but I just snaffled 4A and 4C on return. 4A opened up just before T24.

I'm 2 from 5 this year on CSM greetings when seated in Y. Very ordinary Jet Connect crew today.

I get a greeting and attention at least 90% of the time in Y Domestic. Had some odd look from fellow passengers, trying to figure out why me and not them (DYKWIA! ). Score on QLink - 0%, quick duck at they just about throw the "refreshment" at you. No T80 row 4 on those flights, no t80 on those flights!
