Am into the last four legs of my 2008 DONE4 booked in KHI.
[trip report will follow]

Last legs were
SYD-HKG-DEL-HKG-KHI.
Due to issues with getting leave and then finally getting it at short notice I had to drop DEL due to Visa timing problems.

So I called AA and rerouted SYD-SIN-NRT-HKG-KHI.
Ran into the not having a US credit card issue.

AA Agent said not a problem, will set it up so you can pay Qantas at Syd.
Cost will be about US$150 (125 reissue +++)

Stupidly I believed them.

So at Syd, First check-in desk had a problem - no ticket shown. So over to ticketing. After calling AA who refused to do the reissue, he booked me onto SIN and issued a boarding pass but said I would likely have to sort it out in SIN. (Note no collection of any reissue fee)

In SIN, I came to the Airport 4 hrs before the flight expecting problems.
SATS premium desk. No ticket number - why don't you go outside and call AA - we are not helping at all

Over to the JAL desk where I received a lot more help. After she checked with QF for ticket number, called AA twice (and had me speak to them when they again refused to do the reissue themselves), she could JAL who said get me on the flight and they would sort it out with AA on Monday.

ON Tuesday received a call from JAL saying they could reissue at the airport before my flight but cost would be US$470, made uo of US$125 reissue, a circa US$75 JAL fee and the rest in taxes. Seems very high

So my choices are.
1. Suck it up and pay the JAL fee
2. Find a US credit card (and I am trying to get in touch with a few friends in NY to do this) and get AA to reissue over the phone but struggling to reach them.
3. Any other suggestions??

Try calling AA Brisbane? 07-33296060. They've done reissues for me before and it usually happens instantly whilst on the phone if the appropriate fare quote is already there.

I would just phone AA UK +44 207 365 0777 ... they can do it with no hassles at all

Its interesting how AA EXP desk is able to accept my non-US credit card for payments while other parts of AA seem not to be able to process Aussie cards?

Thank you Dave Noble

Due to the wonders of the Internet and a 60c SkypeOut call - all done in 25min.
Wizard Mastercard accepted and billed for US$118 - I assume this is under US$125 thanks to the wonders of IATA published exchange rates working in my favour.

Just waiting for the queued ticket to be issued.

I also picked up another number for those with a OW black book. The direct line to the UK RTW Tariff Department (useful when Dallas is closed) - +44 208 577 4964.

Also a note on the AA Karachi desk.
They are very good if you have a well planned ticket, although I think would struggle with someone who has not used the oneworld tool/ expertflyer. While they dont accept credit cards, transfer from Australia to Pakistan is quite easy using sydneyforex.com (takes about 48hrs for the transfer).
However they do charge a PKR 33,655 service fee (about US$400)

My new DONE4 (getting me home and giving me options for the next year) priced at PKR 542,160 (A$7,400 at current rates). (The service charge was more than taxes).

If you have status with AA, then they will take an Australian card otherwise not.

.

Do keep an eye on it; if it doesn't get re-issued automatically then do call them back in a cpl of days and find out why. Sometimes it goes screwy.. if v close to departure get them to complete it whilst on the phone

All sorted.
Sitting in Wing at HKG waiting on flight to KHI (and back on next DONE4) (minus luggage of course!).
