It's a red bowl and comes with a nylon / plastic spoon. I have one, about 4 bucks when WW drop the decor products 50% every so often. Only use the plastic spoon and it won't scratch and you won't die wondering if your gut contains a ball of micro-plastics.
We used my Mother in Laws basic one for years and when it died at about 50 years old we bought a $10 'one button two lights', non stick bowl type from Big W and it cooks perfectly fine rice. Usually used about twice a week. Have used it for about 2 years.There is no benefit from a fancy rice cooker as there is only one way to cook rice - the absorption method.

IMO the only requirement for the bowl is that it is non stick. - actually they all are.

Nah Ive got a similar <$100 with light weight aluminium bowl. At least 15 years now. Lots of scratches on the non stick bowl, but nothing sticks.
I believe you, but the one in a share house I occupied where the non-stick surface peeled/flaked off into the food which then stuck like hell to the bowl, tells a different story. Same one as your pic.
We've got similar. Use the plastic spoon and seems to be bullet proof.
Shouldnt be peeling off. If peeling off and within manufacturer warranty I would return.
The mechanism on most of the cheap and cheerful ones is just a magnet which sits inside the round spring plate in the middle of the heater plate.

Well I bit the bullet and lashed out on a Profitec (ECM) 500 with flow valve fitted. @Daver6 I would have liked a Mazer Mini G grinder but could not justify the outlay. Saved a grand and instead bought a Fiorenzato Allground Sense which is a grind by weight (GBW) grinder with 64mm burrs. The company is an old Italian company that only makes grinders, some for other companies. Tossing up with colours and finally went for the silver to match the coffee machine. It weighs 9kg!

Thanks @Daver6 . Just concerned my shots won't turn out as good as the saleswoman at the distributor. It will take a few days for them to fit the flow valve and then I'll be away for a while so I will probably get hold of it toward the end of the month...did I mention I need to build a trolley for the machines before I can start using them?Looking forward to hearing how it goes. I reckon you'll get there with playing around a bit. Apparently one should season new burrs by running some coffee through. Even buying el-cheapo beans from the supermarket, it seemed like a waste to me.

To plumb in to a water supply you'd need to have a rotary pump instead of a vibration pump (solenoid operated). This is the domain of dual boiler machines which mine isn't. Dual boilers machines cost alot more and could require a separate GPO power supply as 2 boilers in operation from cold could need 15A instead of a 10A circuit. The Profitec 500 is one of the larger single boiler (heat exchanger machines) and boiler design allows pulling water and steam together.

All these outlets sell Fiorenzato grinders as well as a number of less and some much more expensive grinders.
I have looked longingly at coffee machines for decades and decided if I didn't scratch the itch now I might never get one. This is a setup I can leave in my will to my son, and with the right maintenance he could do the same for his if he ever gets motivated.
