So I bought a Dyson V15 stick today and a Shark hand held vacuum for quick clean ups, drawers ect for the new house

Still need to buy appliances like toaster (we like Breville), washer, dryer and hubby wants a soda stream

We're likely about to lock in another bosch washer and dryer. Have been pretty happy with one's we've had in the past (have only had a german made washer and a eu-made condenser dryer). Have left them behind when moving house.

I bought a dyson gen5 yesterday and now I'm (almost) loving vacuuming again.
I was going to get the v15 but went to Good Guys and they pricebeat HN /9 I got the gen 5 for $970 (less the 6% off buying a gift card online to pay for it).
It is amazing. I thought my V6 and dyson barrel were doing ok, with washed filters and everything but the Gen5 is finding dust deep in the carpet.
Must go. Off to do more vacuuming

Starting to look at appliances for a kitchen renovation - would be keen to get any opinions or anecdotal experiences on the below as there are a lot of options out there.

• Fridge: Leaning towards the Hisense 417L Bottom Mount as it has the best warranty on the compressor (11 years) and decent enough energy efficiency. Also like the design of it. Looked at a Westinghouse, LG and Haier as well, but didn't like the slightly curved door on the LG, or the freezer handle on the Haier.
• Dishwasher: Looking for a fully integrated machine, and the Bosch Series 6 seems like a no brainer. Series 6 is made in Germany instead of Turkey per the Series 4. Other fully integrated machines generally run $2k+.
• Cooktop: The 60cm 3 zone Westinghouse induction cooktop is the front-runner. Ideally would have liked something a little bigger, but probably won't have the space. There are other 4 zone versions in the 60cm, but can't ever see myself using 4 pots/pans at the same time, nor could I ever see 4 fitting on a 60cm surface.
• Oven: Keeping consistent with the cooktop, and looking at a 60cm Westinghouse. There are 2 higher end models, the first has airfryer functionality (costing $150 more) and the second has airfryer functionality as well as pyrolytic cleaning (costing $300 more). I have a standalone airfryer so that isn't particularly appealing, but the pyrolytic cleaning sounds interesting at least.

For context, 2-bedroom apartment, so sizing was a consideration for things like cooktops and oven.

Now to start looking at washer/dryer stacks.

Just a couple of tips. We didn't pay enough attention to the noise emitted by our cooktop extractor. We own a F & P washer-it recently needed a minor repair. We know the repairer and he has many years experience. His advice was avoid front loaders & F & P are his pick of the bunch of top loaders

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll look into the extractor noise. I’m not sure that a top loader will work from a space perspective unfortunately. Will look into it though.

Dishwasher - Only Bosch Germany or Siemens
As @RB said wash machine, only Top-Load if F&P. Not happy with F&P fridge - veg keeper slides directly on cabinet moulding and has worn through years ago.
Oven - At previous home Miele gave us trouble.

Basically every store I visited today said Miele isn't worth its price tag.

I think F&P were the most water hungry top loaders. Because I'm a greenie I paid for a Miele that uses a lot less water.

I have F&P oven, induction cooktop and fridge which I'm happy with because my friends daughter got me discount there - haven't had any problem with fridge. Cooktop had to be 75cm and F&P were the only ones that made that size and I'm happy with that. Don't like the oven much and have had it replaced once

Otoh, based on a very long history with the brand, or new unit is all Miele in the kitchen.
We recently bought a cheap and cheerful f&p front loader for the laundry ( we don't live there but wanted to be able to wash stuff)
I unpacked and installed it.
Swmbo ran a load and complained about a loud noise.
I checked it out, diagnosed a noisy solenoid and and said do not worry, it was cheap anyway.
Swmbo, undaunted by my summary, contacted f&p who asked for a video of the sound.
They subsequently OFFERED to come and have a look.
Swmbo drives to meet the serviceman who cheerfully diagnoses a slightly noisy door solenoid but no fault.
No charge,
I was right anyway……

We had to replace an expensive four year old front loader. LG I think it was. Just the two of us so I bought a real cheapie. It is the best front loader I've ever had

I put a new kitchen in last year. Bosch induction cooktop - just brilliant, I've always used gas but this is a marvel. Note you're tight for space, so am I but the 600 cooktop and oven are plenty big enough. I have the Bosch Series 6 dishwasher - again it's brilliant. I've had Miele for the last 40 years but couldn't justify the price and I'm very happy with my choice. Have the Westinghouse with airfryer but not pyrolitic cleaning - I haven't tried out the airfryer function yet but am very happy with how the oven cooks. My fridge is a bottom mount Fisher & Paykel which is excellent. The range hood is an undermount (can't remember the brand) which is space saving too. Not sure where you're based - I'm in Melbourne, and discovered the warehouse outlet of E&S Trading (Mods - am I allowed to say that) and saved myself quite a tidy sum, items can be demos from in-store, or the packaging is damaged or they might have a little ding. Whichever state you are in I'm sure they'd be around & any savings would be well worth looking into. I'd buy all these appliances again

FWIW, the Westinghouse oven in current home would have been installed between 1960 and 1970. It is a double. I see no need to change it as it works very well. Better than the Miele I installed in my previous home.

We stayed at a serviced apartment on the weekend and my first experience with induction cooking. Was pleasantly surprised so looking forward to our own stovetop being installed.

Will also comment that a lot of places we have stayed at seem to use House purchased cookware that I have been very impressed with, enough to consider buying myself.

No. You need one that uses inverter technology, has turbo-defrost, sensor cooking for reheat leftovers etc.

We replaced most of the Electrolux appliances that are in our current place, they weren't very good. Hopefully you have better luck...

Power bills not a consideration with the older appliances being less efficient?
