Im a Dyson fan but Im jaded that they have a new, amazing, ground breaking technology machine every 6mths and its $1700. Sucking up dirt and hair technology cant have that much of a giant leap every few months.

If you go onto the Dyson website they have older models for a large discount. I did that last year and was very happy with their service

Having used three seperate different dysons in the last few months - one newer, bigger and heavier than my normal one (but more powerful and longer running), one older, smaller and more nimble, and one much the same as my normal one, there's definitely a goldilocks zone for these which is probably a personal question. Recommend trying a bunch instore.

Personally strongly recommend Dysons - ours is still going strong 10 years on and getting a replacement battery was much easier than I ever expected.

The upper motor box can be hidden behind a cabinet or a shroud put in if not intending to hide the motor box.

Nice and looks sexy. We have a overhead in the cabinet for the first time. Turned it on for the first time the other day and I wondered if they have always been that loud or if its because its in a box and reverberating. Then wondering if I could deaden the sound with some acoustic panels on the inside of the cupboard. As we've not taken keys/moved in yet, time to figure it out. Def noticed the difference between med and high strength

My husband has them and loves them
The universal rechargeable universal battery is long lasting. I use the leaf blower (no eye rolls) we are on acreage and lasts a long long time before needing charging. He gives a tick

For the home handyman, absolutely nothing wrong with Ryobi. You wont see much of it on commercial building sites however.

I've been gradually changing my power tools over to cordless options and went down the Ryobi route. They are good value for money. The best thing is the light weight of the tools, which makes it easier to work with, especially the circular saw. So far, I've accumulated a 5" circular saw, drill, router, plane, whipper snipper, and MrsK a leaf blower.

Keep an eye out for the "batteries included" deals to get the batteries you need - I have two 2 Ah and one 4 Ah batteries. The circular saw and the whipper snipper use the most power, and the 4 Ah battery, the rest do ok on the 2Ah batteries.

Being locked in to a brand of cordless is a bit boring.
I have all almost all AEG save for specialised items, high qual but decent batteries are expensive.
I also have a few Ryobi's and find then good value for handyman level use

I have pole trimmer, hedge trimmer, chainsaw, grinder, pole chainsaw, blower. Most are ok if you make sure you buy the high output model. As @kookaburra75 says it is cheaper to buy batteries if part of an offer. eg: grinder and 9V battery together saves about $100.

The BIG plus with Ryobi is Bunnings willingly honour the warranty which can be as much as 6 yrs. I am about to return my 2nd chainsaw as there is no adjustment left in the bar. Great chainsaw except for this.

Not 9V, I meant 9AH battery which is of-course 18V.

I have had Makita cordless tools for many years. Never had a problem with them or the batteries. Just bought a chainsaw for camping to save carrying fuel in the car.

I do look at the Ryobi range, but I am locked into Makita now.
