Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Pondering getting a new purifier (just a smallish one )
Anyone have favourites ? Our old ones (almost ten years old ) are very loud and clunky

Thanks for the prompts from AFFers in this thread who encouraged me to buy an air fryer. Well no-one per se but you did all gush about them a bit. Did my first homemade chips last night, perfect. Par-boiled (steamed) first in microwave, then left in cold water for an hour or more before dried and "fried" in the AF. Soaking in water apparently removes starch making a better chip.

How does low starch improve the table quality?
The crisp better, less mushy.

The excess potato starch that forms when potatoes are peeled and sliced must be rinsed off the chips with water. If not, the surface starch will block the evaporation of moisture from the potato and lead to mushy, dark brown chips.

Once the excess starch has been removed from the chips, it’s crucial that they are thoroughly dried before being fried. Wet chips not only means that water is highly likely to impair the oil, but it also means that not all excess starch has been removed!

Bosch and Siemens can't be faulted when it comes to dishwashers.
We may have had a small win here. Picked up a used Siemens iQ500 from a couple streets away for free. They'd just bought a newer model. Was on FB for $50 but noone bit, so they just gave it away. Will need to get it installed still, but looks like it's in excellent condition.

We'll see.

Everyone loves a winner. Good score.

Wife and I bought a Bissell SpotClean Turbo late year mainly for our couch and I can't believe how well this product delivers. We use to get our couch professionally cleaned once every 18 months or so (small kids and dog) and after buying the Bissell its so much easier and less money in the end.

Takes approx 30 mins to do the whole couch but I must say it is very satisfying using the machine and seeing the dirty water. We haven't used it on any other items but its good for the car, rugs, chairs etc

Defiantly recommend it.

Realised I could save myself some money and install the dishwasher myself. All the hoses and fittings were in place after all.

Just cost me $40 for a fridge trolley, plus 30 minutes of labour.

A tiny tiny leak from the under sink tap seems to be the only issue. Not the hose connection but the tap itself. I've got a tub there to catch the drips, and I guess I'll need to replace the tap sometime soonish. We'll see. It's upside down which doesn't help.

But the machine seems to work fine. Quiet too.

I'd fix that leak asap before something small becomes something big.
I do have a replacement tap, so it's on my list. The leak however has stopped. I just closed the tap slightly and there's been no further sign of a drip since. Perhaps it needed a little time to sort out. I will keep an eye on it though.

The dishwasher itself though works a treat. Very pleased.

New tap washer?

Good find!
No, the packing round the tap shaft is a little lose. As @GarrettM mentioned it stopped dripping when he backed off the tap. I've always instructed my kids to back a tap off a little when fully opened. Not critical in new taps but old habits and all that.

I need to replace the battery in my Dyson V6 animal which is $119 from Dyson (reports recommend the Dyson rather than generic)

Can someone smarter than me tell me if the new one will slot into my existing wall mount for the V6 please

I think they are the same. Dyson are quite responsive and do sometimes honour battery warraties even when the device is out of warranty. Drop them an email?
