Really unconscionable behaviour making the travelling public pay for their grievances, these are the old left wing tactics of long ago and simply don't work anymore.

As we stood in the very long queue in PER late last year after 3 int. flights arrived (great timing) to be greeted with this no show go slow fiasco, the elderly having to stand so long, one guy with leg in plaster on crutches, they did not give a stuff about us and those in line were livid and with not once ounce of sympathy for these ....

Not really. The current government is trying to cut their take home pay by up to 20ish%.

We don't want to get into a position where government/big business can just do whatever it wants and the public happily lie back and take it.

Or do we just wait until we turn into the United States?

Re: Airport delay due to industrial action

Heard on the radio this morning that Fairworks have ordered strike action to cease due to national security concerns.

I heard about that yesterday, I do believe the unions consider such a request to be illegal, and thus will probably not cease strike action.

As much as I will be annoyed if I am held up later this month due to strike action, I can sort of understand where these people are coming from. Back office departments going on strike can be easily forgotten about (ATO on strike doesn't exactly put fear into the general public's hearts), but someone front line striking where there is a big inconvenience for the general public certainly does.

I'm also guessing the timing is of no coincidence, with an election coming up.

Re: Airport delay due to industrial action

The news I saw said they have complied with the request and gone back to work.

IMHO if the threat is real then they would have difficulty convincing anyone that not going back was appropriate.

Targeting air pax processing is good for attention grabbing headlines but it inconveniences pax rather than 'hurting' the government.

A better industrial action would be to cease collecting duty at the border until the bargaining is unblocked. Pax would be very supportive and the only loser would be government revenue "hurting" those who are holding up the pay deal.
