Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

Looks like they did a batch file/credit processing backdated to the 5th Nov 2023 recently from my screenshot, obviously all my pre-Novv 2023 claims were rejected. (The initial 5000 points credited correctly but are hidden away on page 2 and not in this screenshot).

Like most here I have only received the generic marketing emails and no specific offers or prompts to do anything yet.

Update from Rex delays launch of frequent flyer status perks
"Rex Airlines pushing back the much-anticipated arrival of its status benefits to early May – three months later than originally planned"

You wonder why Rex bothers making announcements when every milestone of their FF program has been delayed.
A new ff manager needed? Wasn't VAs Jayne Hrdlicka once head of qantas ff? And is now at a loose end?

At least it’s for something substantive! VA is waiting for a launch event just for a cabin divider!

Going by Rex's history, it's not much better than VA (or QF's fizzers such as the Hobart Toasters).

The launch of the continuously delayed REX FF program ended up being a fizzer considering they were talking it up with their partnership with DL being the "centrepiece" of that launch.

I suspect we’ll be waiting more than 3 months even for the next phase to launch.

There does appear to be a potential problem with Rex’s FF program. Availability sucks for business class redemptions.

Looking at MEL-SYD (and v.v) in the next couple of months and almost all awards are priced at the highest level… 34k one way.

Rex claims all unsold seats will be sold at the lowest tier in the 24-48 hours prior to departure (17k points) which is great. But it makes it very difficult to forward plan.

Looking into April and May, there’s a smattering of 17k seats which you can buy in advance, like one flight a day.

Compare to VA or QF and you can pretty much take your pick of flight times and days for the ‘classic’ or lowest level awards.

As mentioned in the separate EY/ZL thread. Both carriers have taken the first step by signing an interline agreement.

So for ZL to pick up "VA's seconds ;)" of DL and EY, and potentially TK for their FF program would be good thing for REX.

An interline agreement doesn’t really mean much though, at least in terms of frequent flyer benefits. Many airlines have them. It’s one of the most basic types of partnerships that airlines can have.

Agreed. People would be wetting themselves with the prospective potential buyers if they saw the list of interline partners VA has!

Got an email yesterday apologising for the delayed launch, and giving me 1000 points by way of apology!

Anyone else get the same? Fairly generous, the initial 5k plus 1k means almost a free award MEL-SYD (at 7.4k)

I didn't get the further 1000 bonus points, maybe these were targeted to those who have been active besides signing up for the initial 5k points
I was wondering that!

I've just moved off the base level, to sapphire.

Oh, actually, 1000 might be quite low if I was flying in anticipation of benefits!!

Has anyone had any luck with claiming missing points? I still have a few outstanding from December.
Yes! I did. I submitted online but had to follow up about three weeks later. They apologised and processed it pretty much straight away. Something got lost in the system apparently.

So it seems that Rex still has a few teething troubles with RexFlyer.

The system has not credited my points for the seat selection I paid for on a flight I took a week or so ago. Not sure I can be bothered kicking up a stink for 75 points (5x$15), but still a little annoying...

My fiancée will be happy. She prefers Rex over the other domestic hoppers, so I can't see me chasing QFF perks for much longer. :D

I can see how many points you get for each flight, pending airfare cost, but how many status credits do you get per flight?

In any case, it makes for opening up reward seats on more regional locations. I wonder if this and the likes of Bonza's new routes might be able to inspire more regional or rural travel. It would be good for those areas and good for us to learn more about our own country. What are your thoughts?

It is not so much status credits but you need to reach a dollar spend threshold to move up the tiers. The first level is at $1,500 spend the second at 3,000 and the third at six thousand and that is on your base fare paid no multiplier.
