Reward availability is the issue.

Trying to book BNE-MXP (via DXB) on QF Flt no (EK Metal), but basically zero availabilty (via PER is an option however).

That would be 128,000 Points if I could find it.
Another Option that does have availability is BNE-SIN (Stopover) SIN-DXB-MXP for 144,000 points. Not a bad option with a day or two in SIN.
However, two lots of very high booking fees (around $800 total one way!)

As a Gold FF am I am better off booking a Y fare and applying for a points UG to J? Or is this risky/poor availability also?

Well, you may get an upgrade BNE-SIN and v.v. on QF, but you won't (short of an op up) on EK metal flights - something to consider.

Could you look to other ports than MXP? (though it does seem BNE-DXB is the problem?)

Hi Richard,

Yes, as you point out ex-BNE (and to BNE for that matter) seems to be the problem. However, BNE-SIN-BNE seems ok.

I appreciate your point about EK metal - not going to happen.

Fortunately, EY has plenty of availability via AUH so that should help for one direction (coming back most likely).

SIN stopover, or HKG/TYO looking best at the moment.
