Hi VFF and AFF folks, I'm after clarification with regards to award fares (specifically relating to APW/RAR-xAKL-SYD. I'm looking to stopover in AKL for a few days). If anyone has any experience regarding this, I'd love to hear about it.

While the rules state stopovers are not permitted, flight dates are able to be changed for $60 or 7500 pts p/p, plus any fare differences. Assuming the reward seats are available on a later date on the final AKL-SYD leg, would I be able to book the reward fare, then simply change the last leg over the phone for $60?

The fare difference will be based on the difference between a RAR AKL + AKL SYD ( ie now 2 separate fares) than RAR x/AKL SYD as you are now stopping. so on top of that fare difference you will also pay the 7500 points additional.
